if the topic summary page could show original poster as well as most recent poster id?

That way when I come across a thread started by someone i find completely tedious with an different view as to what is interesting I won't waste anymore time looking at it.

I've wasted whole minutes of my life on one persistent mistress of the non sequitur and I'll never get them back.

lennythelion · 25/11/2010 14:32

I agree! I have thought this since I joined MN!

twolittlemonkeys · 25/11/2010 14:33

I've always thought the OP's ID should show next to thread title too.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 14:34

LOL,aye mn should accomodate your time poor lifestyle

mamadiva · 25/11/2010 14:36

YABU because then noone would read my shite posts :o

Then again I'm pretty sure a few people avoid me anyway...

AgentZigzag · 25/11/2010 14:36

Perhaps MNHQ is trying to continue the 'level playing field' thing, if what some people think is true and regular posters are more likely to be answered than an anonymous one, then showing the OPs name might let some important threads slip through the net?

I can see what you mean about wanting to avoid some posters, but it's a small thing to hide their threads.

Psammead · 25/11/2010 14:38

Actually quite useful and not just because of certain idiots.

booyhoo · 25/11/2010 14:39

i have to say, tehre are only one or two posters who i would actually avoid the thread if i knew they had started it and one of them is so obvious that i only need to read teh thread title usually to know not to click so i don't think i would find it all that useful. an of course what mamadiva said Grin

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 14:40

i post anywhere and never recall folks names anyhoo

choccyp1g · 25/11/2010 14:41

Or if we could have a way of hiding all threads started by a particular poster? So we could just cut out certain toxic posters from our lives..?

kaiserfootmuff · 25/11/2010 14:42

god i hate these threads. really arsey

agree with scottishmummy

notnowbernard · 25/11/2010 14:42

YABU

People seem to be taking MN far too seriously

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 14:44

the random nature of respondents is the fun!filter it to pals only and you might as well fb or email them

AgentZigzag · 25/11/2010 14:45

'People seem to be taking MN far too seriously'

For some people though, MN is an important part of their lives.

Not including myself obviously, I have far more important things to do in RL than sit tapping away on an internet forum Grin

notnowbernard · 25/11/2010 14:45

Exactly, SM

notnowbernard · 25/11/2010 14:46

They are taking it too seriously though, important part of their life or not

whatdoiknowanyway · 25/11/2010 15:02

My OP was slightly tongue in cheek. I tend to click on anything that looks interesting - which to me is most posts. I love the random nature of the posts and I don't 'know' anyone in particular on MN so there is no one I would follow or exclude - apart from the one who prompted me to post today.

I've got better at spotting this poster but still get caught out occasionally and, when I'm taking 5 minutes for a coffee break would far rather spend the time reading the interesting/insightful/funny posts from anyone else on MN than wasting time on a thread I would have avoided if I knew who had started it.

Agent Zigzag can you actually choose to hide post by individuals? Or do you have to open post first and then hide?

5GoldenFimbos · 25/11/2010 15:05
