Pah, we only have one mobile in the house (for emergencys) which I usually use as my alarm, it's worked fine and dandy for years, anyways, it's broke, and as we are skint at the mo I have had to rely on dp to set the alarm for me when he gets up for work at 5.30. He forgot twice last week and again today meaning we were dead late (the dcs have a school bus, school is 8 mile round trip with no car)

His response each time has been 'well you should be able to get up without an alarm' obviously I need an foot up the arse alarm, as does he, so would I be unreasonable to turn off the alarm on the morning of his upcoming, very important foot ball match his family are taking him to for his birthday ?? I can just picture him racing down the street in his boxers.......Grin

who the hell can get up without an alarm???

do it Grin

mumblechum · 22/11/2010 12:14

Alarm clocks are really really cheap in Asda. I bought one last year for £2.99.

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 12:15

I know, I am going to have to venture out for an alarm clock, it's just the blatent cockiness of the man !!

DooinMeCleanin · 22/11/2010 12:17

We also only have one alarm which I am stealing tonight. It's on DH's side of the bed, he nudges me once and then turns it off to an angrily huff and puff when he I go at mad after he wakes me an hour later to tell me the alarm went off ages ago Angry

He is still in bed in a mood because I asked him to get up and help with the dds this morning, due to sleeping in, due to him turning off the alarm.

I am quietly seething as I have been told I must be patient with him, due to the medication he is on (Citralopram) having bad side effects.

My patience is wearing very thin, tbh and if the lazy fucker even so much as dare to ask me to put the kettle on for him, after the abuse he leveled at me this morning (because of the alarm incident) then I shall not be held responisble for what I might do to him Angry

Sorry for hijacking your thread with my rant Grin YANBU btw.

AlistairSim · 22/11/2010 12:17

Blatent cockiness is never an attractive trait in a man and should be stamped out, forthwith.

ChaoticChristmasAngelCrackers · 22/11/2010 12:18

"'well you should be able to get up without an alarm'"

Yes, you should get him to demonstrate just how easy it is Grin

YANBU

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 12:24

Ooooohhhhh, tonight I intend to Angry

every morning execpt undays my DPs alarm goes off from about 5.30am every mins till he eventually gets up about 6.10am and he NEVER hears the fucking thing! and i have to nudge him every time it goes off.

I have told him that i will take a sledge hammer to it if he dose not get up when it goes off or soon after. I only have to get up early for work 1 day a week as i work ate the other day and my alarm goes off once at 5.30am and again at 5.45am - then i get up. No snoozing for 40 mins irritating the shit out of me!

CrawlingInMySkin · 22/11/2010 12:29

Set the alarm forward a hour and change the time so the alarm says 8 and goes off at 8 when really it is 7. IYSWIM only do for a hour after he is meant to get up so he will jusmp up run round like a blue arse fly and then you can calmly tell him that the alarm clock is wrong and he is not late Grin

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 12:40

Something tells me you've done that before Crawling

Bramshott · 22/11/2010 12:43

YANBU. Mind you, anyone who gets up at 5.30am gets my sympathy!

CrawlingInMySkin · 22/11/2010 12:52

I have Grin I run a really nice hot bath was really looking forward to it and DD started crying so I went to give her a feed and when I went back DP was in my bath so I got my revenge Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 22/11/2010 12:56

Slobbadan - DH is similar, his bloody alarm goes off every 10 mins from 5.50, until he decides to get up (usually around 6.30). Apparently he needs the time to wake up properly. Funny but I'd like the chance to do that but the DC seem to have other ideas.

booyhoo · 22/11/2010 12:57

OP why didn't you set it?

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 13:14

booyhoo, I didn't wake up because I was up until 3am with ds, like I am most nights.(asd, has sleep issues) dp had, had a full sleep, not much to ask imo

OP posts:
booyhoo · 22/11/2010 13:18

ah right. i see what you mean. he has to set it after he wakes up.

FindingMyMojo · 22/11/2010 13:21

pound shop or market stall - £1 - £1.50 for a working alarm clock.

I would be fuming though - perhaps leave big note taped in inside of front door HAVE YOU RESET THE ALARM FOR YOUR FAMILY?????

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 13:23

Exactly, I don't need much sleep and am used to it now, but the exhaustion does catch up with me once in a while, hence the need for boot up arse, dp does the late shift on his days off so I catch up then.

OP posts:
ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 13:24

Ave borrowed one off me sis for now, bloody annoying tho, all he has to do is press a button.

Frazzledmumwithsmudgedmascara · 22/11/2010 13:29

My DH always sets his phone as an alarm, but for some reason puts it on the floor next to my side of the bed, and so it goes off at an ungodly hour and he just leans on me and grabs it off the floor, crushing me and waking me in the process.

OP, I would go with Crawling's suggestion.....

HecateQueenOfWitches · 22/11/2010 13:31

I would do it.

He lost the right to fair play when he claimed that someone didn't need an alarm, but should just magically wake up at the right time.

ok. if that's right - he can do it!

Do it do it do it Grin

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 13:34

I am going to Grin

Serves him bloody right, it is doable in the summer, but downright impossible at this time of year Grin

zipzap · 22/11/2010 13:39

I got a mobile for £2.50 the other day from Phones 2 U I think - and it wasn't even the cheapest (splashed out an extra pound so it was a camera phone Grin) if you need a new cheap phone /alarm. Think I had to put £10 credit on it to get it for that price.

YADNBU - need to take alarm from your dh's side of the bed and say that you know you can't get up without an alarm whereas he obviously can and keep the alarm for you, as others have said.

and frazzled - I'd be tempted to lean over and hit your dh over the head with his phone/alarm if he kept doing that! Or at least throw it over to his side every time you spotted it on your side - or keep it on your side but turn it off if it is on your side... Does he say anything when you ask him not to?

ApocalypseCheese · 22/11/2010 13:41

Frazzled, i'd unplug the bloody thing
