Mine go up one week before Christmas, and come down on 12th night. Longer than that and they just start getting boring and all the chocolate decorations will have been eaten before Christmas Eve.

Memoo · 21/11/2010 23:21

Ah Plonker, I'll let you off while its you! xx

BonniePrinceBilly · 21/11/2010 23:36

YABU...its November, it is nowhere near christmas!

ChristianaCatesby · 21/11/2010 23:37

Very common!

PlonkerForLifeNotJustChristmas · 21/11/2010 23:52

Cheers Memoo Grin

Mooos · 22/11/2010 00:56

Naff!

Tortington · 22/11/2010 00:57

tree up in november = loon

piscesmoon · 22/11/2010 08:26

If people had a birthday at the end of April and they started celebrating in March people would think they were loopy! Christmas is the same-wait until Christmas (delayed gratification is a sign of emotional maturity and I bet that those who put up a tree in November would have failed the marshmallow test as a DC!)

HumphreyCobbler · 22/11/2010 08:35

piscesmoon I agree

2rebecca · 22/11/2010 08:39

YABU.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 22/11/2010 08:42

SAD SAD SAD! With just a small sprinkling of SAD!

fatlazymummy · 22/11/2010 09:17

You're not being in the slightest bit unreasonable. It's your home and if you and your family want to put the tree up now then go for it! And enjoy the rest of your christmas preparations.

piscesmoon · 22/11/2010 09:30

I want to bring my DCs up to be emotionally mature, half the fun of Christmas is anticipation, I don't want them to think that I, as an adult, can't wait.

badfairy · 22/11/2010 09:30

Nooooooo.......Mine will not go up until a week before Christmas and will come down on Twelfth Night...end of.

piscesmoon · 22/11/2010 09:31

Why not open the presents and have the dinner on the 1st and then you can get it all over with?!

throckenholt · 22/11/2010 09:34

in a word - YES.

We have a tradition of putting up and decorating the tree on 24 Dec - plenty time enough Grin

cumbria81 · 22/11/2010 09:36

Far, far, faaaaar too early! YABU.

inchhighprivateeye · 22/11/2010 09:37

The good thing about people putting there trees up around now is it makes it easier to spot the idiots.

inchhighprivateeye · 22/11/2010 09:38

their trees I mean.

Poor spelling also an indicating factor of idiocy Blush

eaglewings · 22/11/2010 09:41

I'm feeling guilty that the decorations will be going up here on the 11th this year as my family are having to celebrate on the 18th, so November the 21st is way too soon imo

however I do have fairy lights up all year round..... Wink

NoahAndTheWhale · 22/11/2010 09:43

Too early.

It is DS's birthday today. Therefore no Christmas thoughts can happen yet.

Rocklover · 22/11/2010 09:50

Way too early to put decs up now, but each to their own I believe.

We are going to be putting ours up a little earlier this year, probably second week in Dec as dd is off to her dad's for Christmas (probably a few days before..blub).

We want to have some Christmas spirit for her at home before she goes.

I love Christmas, but not looking forward to it this year as I have moved 200 miles away from my parents and sister, and then no dd either. :(

Add to this that I will be 8 months preggers and dp and I are fairly skint. Oh woe is me.

Mooos · 22/11/2010 13:47

fatlazymummy - you just say that because you are a FAT LAZY mummy (you said it yourself)

fatlazymummy · 22/11/2010 14:31

Moos no I didn't. I said it because I believe in the saying 'to each their own'.Especially in the privacy of a person's own home.
fatlazymummy is just my user name, it doesn't have any bearing on when I choose to put my decorations up. One thing is for sure though, I defenitely won't be seeking anyone else's approval when I do.Especially not anyone on Mumsnet.

TinyPawz · 22/11/2010 14:35

Mine went up yesterday too. My DD would not give over. She wore me down the way only 4yo know how
