Never heard it before

maybe it's a northern thing - i keep hearing random people saying it. usually if they are talking about someone they had a problem with....

allow me to demonstrate. Imagine you are at a bus stop/in a queue at the supermarket etc etc and there are a couple of people chatting in front of you about their dh's.

random one "so he came in blind drunk and spewed all over my new rug/dog/baby"

random two " eeh if that was my lad, I'd have punched his face clean off"

it IS horrible... but it still makes me chuckle. Obviously I wouldn't like it to happen to anyone.

mild mannered - the north is a big place. maybe your bit is a little more refined than mine?

I am northern and I've never heard this phrase. I don't like it either.
