Am I the only one who dreads children in need night? I cant stand it, what a waste of tv time. And it goes on so long! I hate that stupid bear

Sorry BIWI, that obv wasn't in reply to your post. I realise me watching the zombie thing isn't going to raise 39 million chastened. Just suggesting alternative viewing Blush

Should add that the kids love it though: I think it is far more important that THEY get involved in this to puncture their sense of entitlement (talking about my own kids here, not everyone's)

We spend a lot of time on CiN and CR nights indoctrinating them talking about the ishoos behind it all.

WomanOfTheWorld · 19/11/2010 21:27

To be fair, I think you are all very curmudgeonly. The donation is a choice, children taking part at their schools helps them to understand there are many children who cannot and do not get the lifestyle they have. As a self-employed single mum, ten pounds is a stretch, but I make sure it goes to CIN every year, because these charities that benefit really DO a lot for a variety of kids, from those with disabilities to carers the lot. It's not a kids' programme it is just a variety show, thrown together to bring the cause to your attention. And for those who say, "what have they done for my kid..",Hmm the great benefit of being able to use the internet is that you can use it not only for whinging on forums, but to research what options are open to them and their children!

PussinJimmyChoos · 19/11/2010 21:42

Yes yes yes, CIN is all very well, but I need someone to explain why Terry Wogan's cock is on Mnet!

What have I missed?!!

Lougle · 19/11/2010 21:44

My DD1 attends a Special School. They raised money for CIN, stressing how generous CIN has been to them in the past. I don't see it as a bad thing for Children in Need (as all children with SN are, and all children who attend Special Schools are) to be asked raise money for Children in Need Confused. DD1's school did a sponsored 'wheelathon' and children used either wheelchairs, scooters, trikes or whatever to do laps of the playground.

indiechick · 19/11/2010 22:24

Do you know, I've never watched it. It's been going on years hasn't it. I've donated, there's always a bucket at work and through the kids school. But I've never actually seen it. Is it not good then?

thisisyesterday · 19/11/2010 22:26

well we don't get broadcast tv so that doesn't annoy me

but what DOES annoy me is that new stupid girl bear!?

i mean WTF. oh yes, i forgot that girls can't possibly like a boy bear. esp one that doesn't have pink and bows on it

ffs.
drives me crazy

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 19/11/2010 22:28

I usually steer clear of sleb wankathons (so not watching any of it, but then I hardly ever watch telly), prefer to give to smaller charities. But I don't much like the pressure on schoolkids to 'join in' when they have only a limited understanding of what it's all about anyway.

poshsinglemum · 19/11/2010 22:30

It's o nly one night and it goes towards children. Or does it?
