If you are a 12 year old I may have limited sympathy as I had the same discussion with my DS tonight about not being able to see the film tomorrow, but I guess you are an adult with some sort of moral compass.

But in the end you set your own yardstick.

If you are still going to go to the cinema to see it I don't see a moral problem with it really Confused

TrillianAstra · 18/11/2010 23:45

Don't download stuff when it's only out in the cinema. It'll be shit.

Either wait 2 weeks til the cinema is less busy or wait a few months til there is a DVD.

Download a rip of the DVD if you must.

But don't download where someone has filmed it in the cinema. It'll be shit.

AuntiePickleBottom · 18/11/2010 23:49

i am ahuge harry potter fan, i descovered the 1st book before it was even made into a film.

lesson learned by 15th july i will be going to the 1st last showing

muggglewump · 18/11/2010 23:51

The copies will be bad.
I did this with both the SATC film and you could hear popcorn munching and a random fart in it.

muggglewump · 18/11/2010 23:53

Oh, I have no moral compass when it comes to downloading.

applesandcider · 18/11/2010 23:56

YABU. I have close family in the film and music industry who earn their wages from royalties. Downloading is theft.

applesandcider · 18/11/2010 23:57

Sorry - should have said ILLEGAL DOWNLOADING is theft!!!!

Just seen the film. Legally, I might add.

LaWeaselMys · 19/11/2010 00:10

If you are also going to see it at the cinema no matter what then take your chances.

But if you won't, it's not on really.

If they don't make any money from the films they release they want make any more.

LaWeaselMys · 19/11/2010 00:11

I was 10 when HP came out (nostalgic) loved it. Nobody had heard of it...

Meglet · 19/11/2010 00:14

YABU. So common!

(I'm narky as it's late)

taintedpaint · 19/11/2010 00:16

I remember when the last Red Hot Chili Peppers album got leaked online a week before it's official release date. Loads of my friends downloaded it, claiming that they would later buy it for real. Hardly any of them did. :(

I understand the excitement, but it's stealing, so just hold on for a bit and see it the way you should!

AbstractMouse · 19/11/2010 02:25

The worst crime on Mn, to be common, well I haven't downloaded it. I'm still common though, should I just chuck myself off the nearest fucking bridge.

AbstractMouse · 19/11/2010 02:28

Sorry Meglet, narky mood too, if you think common (working class in anyones language) is terrible, get a grip. Not everyone on Mn is landed gentry, us proles often post too Hmm.

IWantToBeAFairyWhenIGrowUp · 19/11/2010 07:21

YABU you are going to see it anyway.

Theft is theft however you dress it up. :(
