Suit Supply advertising campaign

(warning - images are pornographic)

This explains the background. The lying f*ckers are making out there is no problem with the images because they show women who are 'obviously in the lead'.

pornographic window display outrage

me too Bertie.

'Make us a cup of coffee DH love.'
'Only if I can shag you over the kitchen worktop while you drink it.'
10 minutes later, dh having made the coffee and me having cleared the crap from the worktop:
me: 'Oh! Yes! Yes! This coffee's so good!'

They do all look strangely detached don't they? I was wondering what was bugging me about these pics.

BaronessBomburst · 18/11/2010 22:01

Well, even by my 'used-to-living-in-Holland-and-seen-it-all' standards I must admit I was stunned. Definitely NOT suitable for a shopping centre.

Just showed DH who comments ranged from "phoar - she's not in the lead there, is she?!" Hmm to "there's no way kids should be seeing that" and "of course all the men are fugly, they're Dutch, what did you expect?" Grin

I'll have a bit of a surf and see if I can find some Dutch reactions to translate and post.

Starbuck999 · 18/11/2010 22:09

I actually find some of the photos very artistic - especially the one where the male model is translucent with the naked female model behind him.

They are using sex to sell advertising, it's just like a more hard care version of the lynxx effect adverts. They are dutch - which explains a lot.

I like them Blush

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 22:37

would you like them in a family shopping centre, star ?

that is the point here

BaronessBomburst · 18/11/2010 23:18

The advertising campaign was up for review by the Dutch advertising standards authority on Tuesday and we're still waiting for a verdict.

It's been pulled from Facebook - according to the Dutch papers.

The director of SuitSupply is called Fokke. (pronounced Focka) Grin

tethersend · 18/11/2010 23:40

I'll give any man a tenner if he can describe a single suit from those pictures.

Kaloki · 19/11/2010 00:20

Quite tethersend!

Though DH, being the odd one that he is, can't remember the suits, didn't notice the nipples, but could tell you the settings of the camera at a glance. Hmm

well I guess I'll cancel that planned Xmas shopping trip to Westfield tomorrow!

Women in the lead my arse - more like men who wear these suits pay women for sex & presumably not to laugh at their dreadful suit.

On a more serious note, I agree with AnyFucker who said the pics look like assaults. The women don't look at all as if they are in the lead or indeed on top metaphorically or physically...

SuePurblybiltByElves - his funbag? more like a dropbag... Hmm

AnyFucker · 19/11/2010 15:42

Is it true that most suits for men are bought by women anyway ?

My DH has never bought a suit.

This marketing angle they are using could actually just be spectacularly mis-fired to the wrong sex, IMO

medetre · 19/11/2010 16:19

These ads are targetted at young professionals and I think these ads will appeal to them. Whether we like it or not sex does sell particulary to young men and these adverts are just exploiting this.

GrendelsMum · 19/11/2010 16:20

Yes, I reckon that most men's suits probably are bought in collaboration with women at the very least. For DH's last suit, I picked the shop out via their website, and he then went into try them on. I certainly wouldn't have spent longer on a website with those images than I had to, especially at work, where quite a lot of internet shopping takes place. (And actually, if you were looking at that website with your DH picking suits, wouldn't you be quite likely to abandon the suit choosing and go off for a shag instead?)
