Suit Supply advertising campaign

(warning - images are pornographic)

This explains the background. The lying f*ckers are making out there is no problem with the images because they show women who are 'obviously in the lead'.

pornographic window display outrage

(warning - link is to Daily Mail)

The women are obviously not in the lead but those pictures are pretty hot IMO

SuePurblybiltByElves · 18/11/2010 17:19

I have no idea about the suits or the company. I was either drawn like a moth to the nipples (if nipples were lit up obviously or that wouldn't make sense Grin) or pondering over the male model. he looks oddly familiar. Could he be a Boden model Gone Bad?

InkyStamp · 18/11/2010 17:20

ShockAngry Disgusting!

frogetyfrog · 18/11/2010 17:21

I do think the pictures are excellent and attractive. Just not suitable for life size in a shopping centre - cant imagine answering my dds query of 'why is that man looking up that pretty girls skirt mummy, she must be enjoying it as she is going to sleep!'.

Or 'why is that man grabbing that womens booby mummy - do men do that to you?'.

Fun.

the picture are hot(ish) byrel but they are porn and shouldn't be where children can see them

vixel · 18/11/2010 17:24

The women clearly aren't in the leading role but why would they be when they are advertising mens suits. With regards to them as an advert sex does sell particulary to young men who are the target market for these suits.

Nancy66 · 18/11/2010 17:27

Seth- it's a detachable hand held device - but like a shower in your sink really.

I quite fancy the bloke with the beard.

overmydeadbody · 18/11/2010 17:27

Actually, they aren't pornographic are they? They are just erotic.

overmydeadbody · 18/11/2010 17:31

seth I didn't see the one with more than one man in a room. No I have never been in that position, but some people have. I have never been into s&m either but some people like it.

overmydeadbody · 18/11/2010 17:32

The pictures are definately not suitable for public places where children will be. No no no.

On a website for men, fine, on a billboard, not fine.

JamieLeeCurtis · 18/11/2010 17:34

yes, you are right - erotic

RedHeels · 18/11/2010 17:35

I don't have a problem with women being portrayed in a sexualised manner providing that I can see some knobs and men's arses too. When I say that it's usually men, who say "oh, but no one wants to look at a naked bloke!". Errr, no mate, only you don't (cause you want to stay deluded that you look like a Greek god). We can't stop women getting their tits out in the media, so let's at least get some blokes to sprawl around naked on the kitchen top. With 3 marigolds up and ready... Grin

vixel · 18/11/2010 17:36

reheels- are these ads not targetted at men though so male preferences are naturally going to override female ones

RedHeels · 18/11/2010 17:45

Vixel - but the great majority of ads (apart form very few) are constructed in the same way... regardless who they are aimed at (from the top of my head, Beyonce in her latest perfume ad). What about women who want to buy a gift (suit) for their OH and it might appeal to them that their man might look like that, when they buy for them this company's suit.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 18/11/2010 17:55

I agree Redheels in principle but I don't want to see Mr Bad Boden's knob. If his face is that wrinkly, imagine the funbag Shock

sethstarkaddersmum · 18/11/2010 18:05

there isn't a clear division between what counts as pornography and what counts as erotica - people are always going to disagree about it. I consider this pornographic but some people see it as erotica. The main thing in this context is that we agree it is not suitable for children....

re whether what's being depicted is consensual sex in a relationship, or prostitution, or assault in some of the photos - again, people are going to interpret the images in different ways. I would imagine that the people on this thread who like the images, it is partly because they see them as consensual, game-playing type sex, rather than assault etc. But these images are susceptible to a number of different interpretations and the people who made them will have known full well that the negative ones were there - they did not innocently depict benign friendly relationships with absolutely no idea that the clothed males vs naked females, repeated passivity of the males, details like the hand in pocket that someone mentioned earlier etc, would make them liable to being read in other ways.
If challenged, of course, they deny that. Twas ever thus.

Sativa · 18/11/2010 18:55

Same shit, different decade.

AnyFucker · 18/11/2010 19:07

yes, very stylish sexual assaults

lovely

the detachment of both the males and females is very disturbing

these images buy into the casual objectification of women as being almost an "afterthought" to some men

showing these images in a public place where families congregate is wrong and I hope the shopping centre has had lots of complaints, from customers and from workers in other shops

they shouldn't be subjected to this in their workplace (imagines the reaction were pics like this to be pinned up on the staff notice board at work...)

PaisleyLeaf · 18/11/2010 19:17

Just what is the point in asking retailers to take more care with their lads mags displays - when you have to walk past a bill board of one of these pics to get to the newsagents anyway.

Ormirian · 18/11/2010 19:20

They all look so bored.

Weird. Plastic people.

BertieBasset · 18/11/2010 19:23

I think my favourite is the woman bending over the work surface drinking coffee while he stands behind her.

Often the position I find myself in when having an early morning brew Grin
