to think that if a cake mould comes with instructions...

the instructions shouldn't say "Use 1 packet of cake mix, or for a bigger cake, use 2/3 of two packets and use the remaining mixture for cupcakes"?!!

So since I use real ingredients, not packets, I used four eggs and 250g of everything else. I dread to think how it tastes, but it looks awful so far. It will look better if I decorate it, but maybe I'm wasting my time and money...

This is the JML big cupcake mould - just don't bother!

YANBU in my view.

A Lakeland tray I got at least did list real ingredients (225g 4eggs recipe) but it didn't actually turn out very well. Maybe it's my bad cooking, how ovens vary that kind of thing. Suppose with any sort of mould, there is a bit of experimentation needed to get them to work.

Insturctions: put cake mix in here, cook until done.

YANBU...
However, my party cake book says that 1x 340g packet mix is the same as:
125g butter, 165g sugar, 2 eggs, 225g SR flour and 125ml milk
or
3 eggs, 110g sugar, 35g cornflour, 35g plain flour, 35g SR flour (No butter?! Confused )
The recipes are for odd shaped cakes so might work ok in giant mould! HTH

I did double the amount of batter for a batch of 12 cupcakes. Iyswim

However the bastard thing got stuck in the tin!nearly an hour of coaxing it out and I got something that was so not worth the effort and didn't resemble the tin moulding. I keep meaning to chuck the bloody thing!

yanbu

ive just had a silicone mould and its turned out perfect twice, maybe give that type a go instead.

YANBU I just ought it yesterday and was disgusted when I seen 1 packet

I think the bottom needs a 4 egg mix at least tbh, a 3 egg mix wasn't enough for my pudding bowl, was going to try it out next week for cake sale
