GD wants them, it's not happening!

Tidey · 13/11/2010 22:33

Is that the same thing as those hamsters that no-one could get last year?

twirlymum · 13/11/2010 22:45

I thought DD would really like one of the hamsters last year, as they were 'the number one toy'
I went everywhere, and had all the family scouring every toy shop. When my sister finally got me one, I was over the moon, and couldn't wait to see DD's face when she opened it.
The bloody thing was still in it's box in February. Angry

feeimcgee · 13/11/2010 22:59

We got one for DD last Christmas - she really liked it, but we kept losing it under the settees - it has now completely vanished. I had thought about getting one each for her and DS for their stockings, but not at a tenner each or whatever they cost.

redflag · 14/11/2010 10:17

Well i got them for my friends children, for one rat thing its £9.99 a battle suite for the rat to go in was £10.99 i thought they would be a fiver really. And i got the "battle arena" and it was £30 and they don't even put a pet in with it.

I was in shock really.

Not that i mind it was within budget, however, i hoped they would get a bit more than that.

If you don't mind which one you get you can get them on Amazon at 'only' £6-£7 each (but they choose one at random and some are even more hideous than others. My DCs are getting one each in their stockings.

Simbacatlives · 14/11/2010 10:33

Tk max have them.

Yes I paid a silly amount for one last year, but believe me, children get bored of them very quickly!

melpomene · 14/11/2010 10:44

YANBU, they are overpriced. My dds wanted them last year and I resisted, but they still had them top of their wishlists this year so I gave in.

The cost of the accessories such as blankets is even more shocking. You can get non-official cheaper versions of the blankets and beds on ebay, though.

TheFoosa · 14/11/2010 11:15

they are even more annoying than real hamsters

redflag · 14/11/2010 13:14

I imagine they are TheFoosa.

Ds thinks he want one this year. He doesn't.

The3Bears · 14/11/2010 13:22

I got one from boots on 3 for 2 but had a voucher so it worked out at £5 and one from sainsburys sale for £4.99 quite pleased. Ds didnt have them last year but I thought id get him one this year as he likes his cousins. He wanted the ninja ones they're quite funny :)

TheBolter · 14/11/2010 13:25

£5 in John Lewis on Friday, I picked one up for dd2 after managing to get one for d1 in the Sainsbo's sale for half price too. I wouldn't pay £10 for one.

IMO the Fur Real Flurries are much cuter and better , but they are quite hard to get hold of.

jellybeans · 14/11/2010 13:44

I didn't find them that expensive but only got a couple hamsters and few bits. I felt ripped off by a piece of crap toy for DS birthday though which was £40 and utter crap worth £10 if that...(Zingzilla range)

feelingfairlyfestive · 14/11/2010 14:00

My girls have played with theirs a lot, so they have been worth getting. We don't have the accessories though, they use their doll furniture and cardboard boxes to make homes for them and a hula hoop as an enclosure.
:)

redflag · 14/11/2010 14:00

I really don't like the toy ranges where they are a tv brand, they are always a rip off!
