Well thanks John Lewis, you may have just bust the Santa Myth in our house with you're advert (in the X-Factor break) with Parents sneaking about the house, whilst the kids watch the TV and then stuffing things in the loft Hmm our 7 year old was looking at us quite oddly after that.....thankfully the 4 year old was more interested in the kid hanging up a stocking for the dog.......

nah, i get dh to change my nappy.

ChaoticChristmasAngelCrackers · 14/11/2010 00:19

I'm with LotteryWinnersOnAcid.

I couldn't help but think that if they wanted to be kind to the dog they'd take it indoors to the warmth and hang its stocking up indoors.

scottishmummy · 14/11/2010 01:32

you worry about pretend dog in made up ad?have a word.words being it isnt real

OneTwoBaubleMySanta · 14/11/2010 07:22

YABVU to be watching X Factor

ChaoticChristmasAngelCrackers · 14/11/2010 13:49

Lol SM Grin

I wouldn't go as far as to report it but it does kind of tug at my heartstrings to think there probably are dogs stuck outside in cold/snowy weather.

TrillianAstra · 14/11/2010 14:15

I agree with scottishmummy.

I suppose I COULD pass you some wine with the help of mr ocado but it would take some time.

Shammalamma · 15/11/2010 15:11

some presents from parents

anyway santa doesnt exist

Tikitikitembo · 15/11/2010 15:26

[sigh] it was fine, YABU

TotorosOcarina · 15/11/2010 15:32

I've just watched it.

Maybe the horse wasn't a xmas present, maybe they were sneaking it to the bedroom as they had just bought it from Ann Summers?

TotorosOcarina · 15/11/2010 15:32

The dog did look sad though.

jonesy71 · 15/11/2010 15:45

I saw this and said
'Aww, they even hung one out for the dog'

my DH looked at me with that 'you daft cow' look and said 'don't you think he would have rather been allowed in from freezing cold than a poxy christmas stocking?'

Blush

last time i 'Aww' at anything.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/11/2010 08:39

I am going to bet JL will reply telling you the name of the dog and sending a picture of the dog in a JL kennel looking very warm and lovely. Probably next to a small girl dressed in Bodenesque apparel. Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 16/11/2010 08:40

I liked the ad btw. And I am unreasonable generally so perhaps you are being reasonable because you didn't. Hmm Confused Grin

looblee · 16/11/2010 16:24

Poor dog it looked cold out there

I blew the santa myth out of the water aged about 4 when I came out of my bedroom to the loo one night - just as the presents were being brought downstairs. Apparently Santa had had to set off early that year to get everything done and we'd been one of his first stops.

Didn't convince me.

As for the Xmas adverts - thanks to the wonders of V+ I've avoided them ALLLLLLLLL and plan to do so through December and then avoid the DFS sales adverts from 00.01am on Xmas Day too.

Someone sent my cat an advent calendar for cats last year. Cat was not impressed.

PinkCanary · 21/11/2010 14:11

We still have an effing huge cardboard box in the hallway that was delivered yesterday, full of ELC toys.

7 year old DD hasn't even noticed it's there...

cate16 · 21/11/2010 14:39

People have complained..... it was discussed on R4 Friday lunchtime.

treesmc · 02/12/2010 16:43

I totally agree, I have written to the MD of John Lewis and am awaiting a reply.
My sons are 100% beleivers and my eldest son (this could be his last year of beleiving) asked 'Why don't they want tnem to see, what are they doing?' as my son's b'day is 5 days before xmas,I said 'maybe it's her b'day' he replied 'no it's christmas, look at the christmas tree!' By this time another ad had come on, and he was distracted.
This ad has been shown through out the day and not just after 9pm.

pointydog · 02/12/2010 16:55

oh gerrova it

I'm an adult. I could easily explain it away to a small child if required.
