Have just changed the roll - again!! - and I reckon we are getting through a roll a day.

There's only three of us!!

Is this excessive? Should I be worried?

And why does someone always leave one sheet and not change the roll thus presenting a problem for the next person who doesn't notice when they "sit down"??

9- 12 Here sainsbury job not the basic range me 2 teenage ds small ds and dd .But ds2 has crohns so think that is most of it

CrankyTwanky · 14/11/2010 13:00

Just under one a day. Waitrose own brand. More if it's sainsbo's value stuff.
dh is sniffly and blows his nose a lot.
Two ladies.

purepurple · 14/11/2010 16:48

I use Aldi Aloe Vera 4 pack (£1.89 I think)

gibbberish · 14/11/2010 16:56

YANBU. This is a very interesting and thought provoking thread Grin

6 in our house plus myriads of teen friends continuously in and out. So we get through approx 10-12 rolls a week. Horrifying.

Far, far more if we use discount brands. False economy those.

DanceInTheDark · 14/11/2010 16:57

Good god some of you lot use a lot of loo roll!!

it's about 1.5 a week for us. Family of 5. Me, DH, and 3 DSs. 1 still in nappies but using the loo occasionally.

DS1 and 2 at school all day so just me, DH and DS2 in in the day. DHs clients (male and female) round a minimum of every other day too.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 14/11/2010 17:31

With 5 of us, we do get through a fair amount - probably 12-15 rolls.

One week it was nearer 20, though, because the dog got into the downstairs loo, and shredded all the spare rolls all over the hall carpet.

It is just as bloody well she is cute!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 14/11/2010 17:53

I still wish to argue the case for value rolls.

Still on the roll that was put on first thing yesterday morning.

Better brands tend to be thicker but less in quantity - but ime children don't take account of thickness when deciding how many sheets to use. So more sheets=better value

throckenholt · 14/11/2010 17:56

I was toying with posting this topic too ! We visited my mum yesterday (4 of us overnight) and used up all (2) rolls of her paper. They were budget rolls - much smaller than the ones we have.

We get through at least a roll a day judging by the number of empty inners. There are 5 of us including 3 kids - 2 of which use silly amounts of loo paper (one of whom regularly blocks the loo !). We are also at home a lot because we home ed.

I reckon we could get by with a roll every 1.5-2 days if I could train my two terrors, but I am not making much progress.

throckenholt · 14/11/2010 18:01

maybe I need to get cheap loo paper for my two big users and then keep the andrex for me ?!

midsummerfae · 14/11/2010 19:02

With us, it's just me and hubby and we get through about one roll a week (sainsburys recycled), but I am über meagre with loo roll. Strictly no more than 2 sheets per tear and I do bathroom origami to get the most wipes possible :-D
When I was at uni a friend came to stay, she aws getting through a roll a day. I nearly keeled over Shock
Can't stand how many trees are cut down(or recycled paper supplies diverted) just so we can wipe our derrières. Think continental bidets or Asian cleansing water jugs are much more hygenic and eco friendly.

0Lucylabia · 14/11/2010 19:03

Noooo!
Not the dreaded Izal loo paper, "wipe it and spread it all over"? 100% totally non-absorbent! My dad used to be a car re-painter, and he swore that this stuff alwys was the best best rubbing down paper!

whatagradeA · 14/11/2010 19:10

Somebody started this thread before (maybe over a year ago) and one MN family uses cloth wipes Shock

Mowiol · 14/11/2010 19:17

" and one MN family uses cloth wipes "

...........Shock

Well, the good news is that the one I put on the holder is still there - maybe we just had a bad week last week?!

But I am going to monitor the situation - now where did I leave my clipboard?

Mowiol · 14/11/2010 19:18

Lol at rubbing down car paint with Izal!!

Cloth wipes??

cloth wipes?

MrsSnaplegs · 14/11/2010 20:35

I nursed an elderly lady many years ago who used cloth wipes. Unfortunately one got "lost" and she ended up with septicaemia - she was completely disorientated for a few days until we realised what had happened but during that time she managed to break a nurses arm in her confusion! Stick to loo roll!!

MumWithABum · 14/11/2010 20:48

ffs

KickArseQueen · 14/11/2010 21:06

LOST???? Shock >

I mean ok!!! Thats horrendous! But what if it had been disposable loo roll???? The same thing would have happened, surely??

No I'm sorry, but how the hell did it get lost???? Confused

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 14/11/2010 21:10

MrsSnapleg - totally off topic - did you finish refurbishing your caravan - just nosied at your profile and that last photo is of the inside of it stripped out..........and I'm nosey Grin

KickArseQueen · 19/11/2010 23:12

I'm reporting back!!! We still have 5 rolls left out of the 12 and 2 days left to the end of the week so I can safely say we've used less.

I've also realised just how much I use for wiping stuff up / cleaning things!

Because we've used a more expensive loo roll , but then used less of it it's probably cost me the same for the week, but we've had the pleasure of soft loo roll!

I need to repeat the experiment with lidls own brand!

Asteria · 19/11/2010 23:30

Don't go anywhere near the really really cheap Lidl stuff (something like 99p for 12 rolls) we get through it so slowly (1 a week for DS and I) but it's an ordeal. Wreaks havoc with my piles and I swear there was a bloody splinter in the bit I used earlier...

mumeeee · 19/11/2010 23:48

Yes that is a bit excessive, Their are 3 of us and we use about 3 rols a week.

Mowiol · 19/11/2010 23:48

Well ....... things have improved here - we have "done" 4.5 - 5 rolls here this week.!!

What the hell was going on last week is all I can say??!! Bear

Now thoroughly embarassed by the whole fiasco - who the hell was using so much loo roll last week?? Bet it was DS/DH ... obviously not me!!

Hmmm...... I blame hairy bummed men!

I'm reporting back too. Last Friday night I put a new roll on. We are currently halfway through the third roll.
