to ask how many rolls of loo paper you use in a week??

Have just changed the roll - again!! - and I reckon we are getting through a roll a day.

There's only three of us!!

Is this excessive? Should I be worried?

And why does someone always leave one sheet and not change the roll thus presenting a problem for the next person who doesn't notice when they "sit down"??

3 or 4 a week for 3 of us who need it.. Ds is still in nappies.

We use tesco own brand stuff or whatever is on offer.

6 a week (andrex) and there are 5 of us, 2 adults, 1 almost adult and 2 little ones, plus we use a pack of flushable toilet training wipes as well.

apple99 · 13/11/2010 12:05

mrspear No not 3 non working adults.

1 sahm, 1 full time working daddy and a 3 year old who insists on going to the loo by herself and even after many discussions about "only using a few squares of loo roll" still unravels half a roll and then flushes it down the loo!!

MrsNonSmoker · 13/11/2010 22:39

Glad this has come up. There are 4 of us, two primary DC, 2 adults, I am relieved to be able to get this off my chest - we use about 9 rolls a week. There. I've said it. Shock !!

Lynli · 13/11/2010 22:42

One a day for 3 people.

WookieetheChew · 13/11/2010 22:49

DH and I use almost one a day. DH uses a ridiculous amount though (I only know because if I aks him for a "couple of bits" to wipe my nose he'll bring me about 10 bits, so I'm extrapolating from that).

fireblademum · 13/11/2010 22:59

makes a big difference what brand.
tesco springforce about 1 a day for 2 people. andrex (on offer 'cos its too expensive)lasts about 3 days. the thicker paper affords a more satisfying wipe so you need less, plus more sheets per roll.
using the paper consumption spreadsheet it still isnt worth the additional cost unless heavily discounted though

blueshoes · 13/11/2010 23:20

Mowiol, dare I ask, what do you use so much loo roll for?

If is it just dh, I and 2 dcs, a loo roll will easily last 4 days (all at work/school). When we have an aupair, we can use 1 a day.

What the heck does anyone need so much loo roll paper for??

marriednotdead · 13/11/2010 23:35

4-5 rolls of Charmin a week so I bulk buy (24's) plus a pack of moist wipes.

5 of us but seems pretty ridiculous considering we're all out most of the time and males are the majority.

KickArseQueen · 13/11/2010 23:44

Ok Now I'm fairly horrified!!! There are 6 of us(1 isn't potty trained yet), we use Smartprice loo roll and get through 12 per week!!!!! I had to buy other loo roll this week and I'm wondering whether we've been using more because the smart price stuff is crap...

marriednotdead · 13/11/2010 23:46

More is less? KAQ, splash out and see what happens, 12 is obscene!

pastyeater · 13/11/2010 23:50

We use 1 roll a day. Only two of us.I have a theory that some people do more easily wipeable turds than others. Try as I may I just can't get clean on less loo roll.

pastyeater · 13/11/2010 23:53

My arse is very environmentally unfriendly, I know.Wink

Rockbird · 13/11/2010 23:54

Right, I'm logging a change of roll here. New roll put on last thing last night (Friday). Looks pretty full now. There are two adults and one toilet trained 2yo. I'm guessing it's 2-3 a week.

Brand: Andrex or Sainsbos/Tesco own depending on offers.

wubblybubbly · 13/11/2010 23:56

We use 1, maybe 2 per week. DH at work, me at home and DS, 4.

Andrex quilted is great, really thick so you use much less.

KickArseQueen · 14/11/2010 00:31

Hmmm... I've just done a comparison squeeze of the 2 types of loo roll, the smart price stuff compresses down to a ridiculous amount compared to the next type up... I'll report back Wink I blame dp to a degree tho, he has a folding system that he's taught to the kids that uses lots of loo roll and he never uses both sides!!!!

Mowiol · 14/11/2010 00:33

blueshoes - I have no idea why we use so much loo roll!!

It's bloody mysterious - methinks the 2 men in the house have more "hairiness" and perhaps have to wipe more???

And I think runny noses are wiped with loo roll etc.

Now that I think about it I use loo roll to wipe off the seat etc. when I have cleaned the whole toilet with bleach. So probably I should just not do that?

Ashamed of our excessive loo roll use now Blush

sharbie · 14/11/2010 00:39

we use 1 a day

MrsBonkers · 14/11/2010 02:19

You'd think women would use more wouldn't you? My DH uses loads, but then he has IBS, so think it would be a bit mean to pull him up on it.

Akkad · 14/11/2010 02:41

3-5 a week depending on that time of the month for the girls iykwim.

blueshoes · 14/11/2010 09:08

mowoil, I think fold and wipe again is a good policy.

As aupairs are the prime offenders in our house for excessive loo roll use, I always tell them at the outset they are not allowed to use loo roll for cleaning! We have cloths for that.

One used it to do her make up and liked to use our quilted loo roll like it was going out of style.

It is all rather mysterious.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 14/11/2010 09:15

ahh - but I use value stuff too (Morrisons) and we don't use that many.

FWIW - I changed the roll yesterday morning and it's still got plenty left.

cumfy · 14/11/2010 12:43

,

SprocketRocket · 14/11/2010 12:49

I reckon we only go through 1-2 per week.

Thats between me and dp, and we are both in all day.
