to tell the local Lib Dems where to stick their requests for help with leaflet distribution?

I used to be a Lib Dem supporter - every election, I voted for them as I thought they had integrity, and felt that they were the party with the lowest number of utter pillocks in their ranks. I thought Nick Clegg was a decent bloke with some morals, I considered Vince Cable an honest and sensible politician. I helped to campaign for them in the recent elections, and used to help my parents deliver Focus for them when I was younger. Last night I got a phone call and an email from our local branch asking for my support in the local council elections.

Since they have clearly just lied themselves inside out, and couldn't give even the tiniest of shits about their supporters, would I be unreasonable to tell them to stick their request for help somewhere the sun don't shine, and never to darken my doorway again?

Ok - well I'm not going to be nasty about it - have just said I don't feel able to support them anymore after their numerous u-turns, especially on tuition fees.

I think the problem is a lot of the local lib dem councillors do have integrity and are very hard working.

It is Nick Clegg who has let the lib dems down through the student funding issue, the changes to child benefit, and stopping higher rate tax payers benefitting from the change to the personal allowance.

I won't vote for the lib dems nationally unless they change tack on these issues. It is hard to know who to vote for nationally now.

Will probably still vote for lib dems locally as the local tory councillors do not listen to those they represent, even when petitions with 1000s of signatures are presented to them.

Tell em where to stick it, say they will have to find another chump to help distribute their lies.

Next time they canvass, they will hear how I feel about the Coalition.

Saying about the Local council, it's the same people they support the party line, they vote on bills in parliament and could say no or refuse to vote if they had any morals, don't vote them for anything they need to be punished they are the worst.

Labour = useless Tory-lite, the Tories well you know what to expect from them anyone who voted for them is a fool or rich, the Lib dems are lying two faced scumbags, who will never get in power on there own, not after all that they have done.

They're going to lose half of their core support over the student funding thing in particular - you won't be the only one walking over it all.

Who are those who voted lib dem going to vote for now?

I've absolutely no idea who I'll vote for now. In our constituency, the Tory MP is conspicuous in his absence who used to be the shadow minister for Cornwall. I don't live in cornwall. the Lib Dem bloke seemed nice enough, but I can't bring myself to vote for them now. and I'm not sure if the Labour candidate even visited the area. We don't have a Green Party representative, and all the other small parties are the loony racist/religious ones. I've a mind to spoil the ballot paper next time round.

I shall vote Labour from now on, but it's almost futile where I live (very Tory round here).

Or the Green party, I suppose - if we have a candidate.

Are labour going to say tuition fees should be frozen and keep child benefit as a universal benefit then?

The Lib Dems never had integrity! Or it could be I'm biased because of the lying shower that were running my local council. They didn't have a shot at national power up to now and lack of 'history' makes it a lot easier to present a fluffy, cuddly image and come up with promises there would never be a hope in hell of having to make good on.

If they'd sided with Labour it would be the same tune, different lyrics. Welcome to coalition government... a chance to gaze into the future and see how a PR system might look :)

Please tell them loudly and clearly why you will not help amd why they have lost everyones your vote on the massive U-turn on tuition fees.

Don't fall for the line that Westminster and local Govt are separate issues: we can't vote in a Deneral election for another 5 years so this will be the only chance you get to register your outrage.

I was happy with the idea of tory/lib dem coalition but am not happy with policies that neither party had in their manifesto such as scrapping child benefit.

Furthermore some of the lib dem measures that have been adopted have been twisted - eg. raising the personal tax threshold. It was in the lib dem manifesto that the threshold would be raised if you earned up to 100k. Now they are going to fiddle the higher rate tax bracket to stop people earning over 40k from benefitting.

If the tories/lib dems had said pre election we are going to rob parents earning 40-50k to make things fairer for those on low incomes but let those earning 90k remain largely unaffected they may have received fewer votes?

I wish they had asked me, they would have got both barrels at high volume. I always voted LD and I am now disgusted with them. I expect the Tories to be scum, they always are and always will be but the LD's supporing them turns my stomach.

BLOODY LYING TRAITORS

I find the reaction to the Phil Woolas thing absolutely appalling. MPs of all persuasions seem to think that it is wrong that he is being taken to task for telling lies whilst canvassing. They seem to think that deceiving the electorate and slandering the opposition is all part of the rough and tumble of politics.
When will they understand that we want integrity from our politicians? Did the expenses scandal teach them nothing?
How can they expect any support when they promise one thing in their manifesto and then do the complete opposite when they get in power?
