When I was in England a month or so ago, I went into Tesco and got Plan B and BCRs. I put the in the CD player of the car and thought no more about them. DD (9.6) has become the biggest BCR fan in Belgium. Currently she is laying on the sofa (off school with a virus) watching them on youtube.
WIBU to deliberately scratch the cd or just throw it away. I'd forgotten how dreadful they really are.

yanbu

Ds (8) has a current passion for The Shadows after his kindly teacher played their CD in class a few months back.

Hmm

I am NOT allowing this 'passion' to continue.

saorachd · 09/11/2010 10:51

YABVVU.

How could you not love 'Shang-a-lang'and Les?

MardyBra · 09/11/2010 10:52

Your fault for buying the CD in the first place, I'm afraid, so no sympathy. Wink.

KurriKurri · 09/11/2010 10:57

They were admittedly a terrible bunch. But if you can't love a crappy band when you are 9 when can you?

Get her some baggy tartan trews and go with the flow. Embrace your inner roller fan, you know you want to Grin

(Why did they all look so pale and undernourished? especially the little blonde one)

oliviacrumble · 09/11/2010 10:58

YABU!

Bye-bye baby, a classic by anyone's standards

Something something but I can't linger
There's a wedding ring on my finger

(She loves me but I'm not freeeee)

So bye-bye baby, baby good-bye....

On a totally irrelevant note, one of them (derek?) ended up retraining and working as a psychiatric nurse.

Hassled · 09/11/2010 11:00

YOu need to start making her some tartan trousers, pronto.

I remember telling my father I fancied Woody the Drummer. I must have been about 7. I'm blushing just thinking about it - it must have entertained my father for days.

Olivia, it was Derek and there was somthing to do with child porn as well. Scared to google.
Currently she is listening to Shang-a-lang. She is word perfect for by bye baby. When we walked to the doctor last night, she was bellowing singing at the top of her voice.

At least it wasn't Donny Osmond.

2blessed2bstressed · 09/11/2010 11:28

I had a Donny Osmond lampshade Blush

kreecherlivesupstairs · 09/11/2010 11:32

I had a Donny Osmond in four pieces courtesy of Jackie magazine. He ended up life sized. My DS had David Cassidy.
DD has just seen some footage of the BCRs arriving somewhere and spied out the scarves and trousers. That's christmas taken care of then Grin

Hey Kreecher, I'll introduce my dd to them and then they can meet up and sing together :)

stealthpony · 09/11/2010 13:14

Plan B??? Urgh! YABU for that in itself...

kreecherlivesupstairs · 09/11/2010 14:03

Stealth. I had no idea of what the CD was about. It took me several thourough listenings to to work it out. Has been relegated to the bottom of the shitpit car.
Lontime, is your DD a BCR fan too?

OP posts:
theevildead2 · 09/11/2010 14:28

BCR is a million tomes better than Kesha or Ndubz or most of the other shite she could be listening to now!

oliviacrumble · 09/11/2010 14:28

The child porn bit was their manager (A bit worrying that I have retained this level of detail). He had what he claimed was consensual sex with a 15 or 16 year old boy, and was jailed.

I think...Confused.

THK · 09/11/2010 15:56

kreecher- I loved Jackie mag. Was mortified to find Eric as the centrfold had staples through his nose. Stayed on my wall for months.

saorachd · 09/11/2010 17:54

oliviacrumble - Derek Longmuir received 300 hours community service for possession of child pornography in 2000.

oliviacrumble · 09/11/2010 18:04

Really? That's terrible!

Had no idea about that saorachd.

KurriKurri · 09/11/2010 18:06

Jackie mag brings back memories,- there was a penpals page and we used to write to squaddies, when we were about 12, pretending to be 16. Letters would arrive back drenched in Brut. - my poor parentsGrin

(When it came to the point where the squaddies wanted photos, we mysteriously stopped writing.)

BudaisintheZONE · 09/11/2010 18:15

I LOVED the BCR. Those were the days.

LivinInThe80s · 09/11/2010 18:18

Those were the days indeed! Despite my name I am a child of the 70s, I had bye-bye baby on flexi-disc - had to eat about 40 packets of Smiths crisps to save up the tokens for it Grin
