to be upset that DS1s best artwork has been broken?

Of course I am, but I am actually really sad about it.

DS1 has a number of co-ordination and concentration issues, so he doesn't often produce anything "decent". This is an african mask, made from clay that he made at school. He obviously spent loads of time on it and I really like it as a decorative object (odv a tad biased)

Anyway this afternoon both DSs supposed to be doing homework, DS1 is holding the mask up to his face to distract DS2 (typical behaviour I'm afraid) DH was frustrated and grabbed DS1's arm to steer him back to the table where he was supposed to be working. The mask was dropped and is now in several pieces.

I know it was an accident (although I didn't much like the temper DH showed, he didn't come close to hurting anyone) and it wouldn't have happened if DS was doing as he should but both I and DS are very upset Sad

YANBU, but have you considered showcasing his next piece of artwork? On a hook, out of easy reach or displayed in a frame?
It was an accident, perhaps next time the adult could head off trouble before it ends up with special things being damaged. But I don't think your DH is to blame, and you don't mention how old your DS is either.

YANBU

Your DH should have been more careful
Your DS should have been behaving himself
You should have put it somewhere safer...

All given....

However, YA still NBU being sad that it's broken.

Had you taken any photos?

Oh that's a shame, of course YANBU.

Fwiw my DSDs told me that their mum is getting them some of those deep box frames with glass on the front, for them to display the models they make at school. That may be good for future projects by your DS?
