to wear an umbrella hat?

well I haven't yet, but it seems like the perfect solution to pushing a pram in the pissing rain.

Hoods cut off your profiterole vision and I'm buggered if I'm wearing an old lady rain hood.

I like my hair, it looks shit when it's had a soaking.

DP looked at me like he might run for the hills when I suggested it. AIBU?

Again, I feel that you may, really, need to wait until a celebrity mother (angelina, maybe?) trailblazes with this one.

It's a sad thing, but being a pioneer can occasionally be painful. Sadly, you may find that the rest of your community may take a while to catch up with your vision. While your dp runs for the hills, you may find small strings of infants and youths take up his place at your side. Perhaps even mocking you in their benighted state of not having seen the wisdom of your headwear choice.

get a sling and a brolley, they look daft and probably aren't effective what with run off and sideways rain. besides, the hat will flatten your hair.

Even a sou'wester would be better.

HeroShrew · 07/11/2010 12:18

I was thinking that the elastic on the umbrella hat would keep my fringe nicely in place :(

I know that the one in the picture is a bit garish but maybe I could customise it somehow?

I can't believe that no MNer has tried this before!

DS is 16mo and a right old chunk. No slings for me anymore, sadly.

They are tempting aren't they, however I do feel although practical you will look a bit of a pillock.

p.s. I never let anything cut out my profiterole vision ... too tasty :)

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 07/11/2010 12:31

Wouldn't one of these be more practical?

HeroShrew · 07/11/2010 12:43

I see where you're going with that tortoise, but aren't they a bit dangerous? we're back to the preriferal (WTF is that word) vision issue here.

VinegarTits · 07/11/2010 12:48

just shave your head, no more shit hair dos in the rain

HeroShrew · 07/11/2010 12:51

VT, if I had a shapely head á la Sinead O'C I jolly well would, but alas my head is the shape of a breeze block
