To want to say something to the shop staff about this?

Inspired by the pooing-in-Pizza-Hut thread, although this is much less exciting... :)

Today, in M&S loos; really busy; they run out of soap. Mum next to me at the sinks says to her 5yo DD: 'Never mind, darling' and takes her out without having washed her hands.

Quarter of an hour later, in the foodhall bit downstairs getting some bread. Notice the same child next to me looking through the (unwrapped, fresh-baked) pastries on the shelves -- lovingly stroking each croissant and then carefully putting her fingers INTO each lattice tart on the shelf. You know, in that almost-OCD way kids of that age have...

Mum looks over, sees her doing it, clocks me seeing her seeing.... and then says, 'Come along, darling' and walks off.

AIBU to have wanted to find the nearest member of staff and tell them to bin those things??

no you're not but don't forget that by the time you've washed your hands - and then opened the door - you hands are probably muckier than when you came out of the toilet......lots of nasties on the handles of public toilet doors........

My hands might be dirty but I wasn't sticking my delicate digits in the patisserie products!!

But yeah point taken :)

Which is why I never buy unwrapped bakery stuff off the shelf...blergh.

Probably wouldn't say anything to the shopstaff, might have said something to the parent though.

I hope you hadn't used your mobile phone recently - apparently there's more germs on them than even on a public toilet door handle!!!

Well, I was pretty blatantly looking at her in shock and besides she looked rough.

I NEVER buy unwrapped bread in supermarkets. And now I know I was right all along!

Vom.

YANBU, I dont care if she'd boiled her hands first. I wouldn't want them in my dinner!
