to be fed up with NatWest

I was handed a leaflet at Natwest which said if they were the last bank in a town they promised not to close.
They are the last Bank in our town (there used to be four) and they are going to drop their opening hours to Monday and Friday only. The nearest Natwest apart from the one in our town is six miles away. They made our branch a sub branch of one in a town 12 miles away. Every time I see their advert I want to throw something.

Write it on your yearly questionnaire you fill in

I hate Natwest, rubbish bank IMO. Successfully got money back from them for their useless service. Closed accounts. Never looked back.

I hate them too.

That bloody advert about staying open and thinking about their customers.

Wanted to see someone in my local branch the other day and found the opening hours had dropped, again, to being 10.00 till 4 Monday - Friday. So much for customers who have a week job huh!!

I asked for a new loan (about £1000)that i already had as i was struggling to pay some bills - they said no they could only help me if i missed a payment (i could afford to make the payments so i didnt really understand why). I'm not with them no more

IWantToBeAFairy who do you recommend then?
It has been a family tradition to Bank with Natwest because FiL worked there. He is dead now so probably time we started looking elsewhere. DD is with HSBC, but lives in a big town with lots of choice. Trouble is as I said Natwest is the last Bank here, so we would have to travel some miles for another Bank.

I don't go into the branch that often anymore, there is online banking, which you can transfer from account to account or pay bills online (very easy and a free service). Obviously if you have to bank cheques or anything you need to have access to a bank easily.

I use Barclays - have done for about 5-6 years now - they have been brilliant for me.

ruddynorah · 08/11/2010 17:51

What do you use the branch for?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/11/2010 17:53

A bank that opens on a Saturday is a novelty round here, and the nearest one is 15 miles away, we do online banking or I manage to scoot in on my lunch hour.

Firstdirect - they are great, have won awards for customer service and it's all telephone or internet banking.

And no, I don't work for them!
