Ok so my son is going to the cinema party. The mum who took them ( small group) got the time wrong and missed their film by an hour.
So she decides to give them lunch while they kill time to wait for the next one.
Fair enough.
But then i get a text " hi hun, sorry missed time for film r w8ting 4 nxt 1. Lunch @maccyDs. ok?"

For GODS sake, if I wanted my kid to eat there ( as if) I'd take him. He knows we dont eat there or at similar places.
I am livid but what could I say?

Advice please on how to deal with this

We don't generally visit MacDonald's. But we were in Paris on holidays years ago and the food was VVVVVVVVVVVexpensive! But we discovered MacDs, and the prices were cheaper - so I'm going to shock you all and tell you we ate MacDonalds for the 3 days we were there!

And, guess what - we all survived, including the children!

saggyjuju · 07/11/2010 12:10

must say 'HILARIOUS' i wish all i had to worry about is a macdonalds meal, chill pill needed bigstyle or you really will have a serious post to put up here cos your child will feel really awkward amongst his friends if you do make a big deal about it......but thanks for the post the replies have been a hilarious read Grin

Rocklover · 07/11/2010 13:13

This has got to be a joke thread surely. If not the OP needs serious therapy and so will her DS when he is older.

Being into healthy food is good, being obsessive and alarmist about it is very, very unhealthy.

mutable · 07/11/2010 13:26

maddonalds... do you have quite a number of children?

fsmail · 07/11/2010 13:31

Live a little. No kid is going to die from one Macdonalds. When they are 16 they will discover it themselves and those who went as children will not be seen anywhere near it.

fsmail · 07/11/2010 13:43

My DS would probably have thrown up which he does when over-hungry so I would appreciate her thoughts. At a party you can tell the kids whose parents are food fascists because these kids because their plate is full of all the crap that they never get to eat at home. I cook healthy food at home but do take them for the ocasional Maccy D's although my DS (10) hates it because it is only for little kids and would rather go somewhere nicer. Everything in moderation. It is like TV. I grew up with TV obsessed parents with a TV in every room, I did my homework in front of it. Now I barely watch it unless there is something really good on. Effectively my parents let me overdose on it and now it holds no allure.

Riven and Heartsease I know my geography thanks. Have you ever set foot on the continent? Most people in most countries in Africa are starving and live in poverty. The likes of the Republic of South Africa and Egypt might have considerable wealth like a South American country however in the majority of Africa they would wish they could be taken to a Mc Donald?s 7 days a week! I find it disgusting no one else has battered an eyelid at any of these comments. My point is the OP is totally not on when people ARE starving in the likes of the majority of the continent of Africa if you think otherwise why don?t you step foot there and get outside of tourist areas.

Well i say it is. However the forcing of the eating of dinner is supid I agree.

MaddonaldsMum · 07/11/2010 14:18

sadly, MNHQ are reluctant to delete the thread, they say after so many people enjoyed hearing about this horrendous kids "party".

Haha Why have I not been on mumsnet for months...?! this is exactly the kind of escape from reality I needed.. FFS! if indeed you are a genuine poster maddonaldsmum then I thank you for allowing me to see there are people more highly strung than myself out there..

I genrally dont like my kids eating processed food, its never in the house and if we eat out we usually do it as healthily as possible but I certainly wouldnt give myself a migraine over a Macdonalds at a kids party jeees everything in moderation hey?

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 07/11/2010 14:32

I'm guessing you only have one child OP.

Lee2010 · 07/11/2010 14:40

MaddonaldsMum could you explain to us all what your issue with McDonalds is because Ill be less outspoken if you could at least explain rationally what the problem is?
