Ok so my son is going to the cinema party. The mum who took them ( small group) got the time wrong and missed their film by an hour.
So she decides to give them lunch while they kill time to wait for the next one.
Fair enough.
But then i get a text " hi hun, sorry missed time for film r w8ting 4 nxt 1. Lunch @maccyDs. ok?"

For GODS sake, if I wanted my kid to eat there ( as if) I'd take him. He knows we dont eat there or at similar places.
I am livid but what could I say?

Advice please on how to deal with this

Man, that is one scary school gate on Monday morning...

Do they have Mars bars in Switzerland? I thought they'd be illegal.

Lee2010 · 07/11/2010 01:30

One word women, Africa, would this conversation be happening if you lived in Africa? You stupid over reacting offensive woman. One or even ten McDonalds won?t harm your child but what will harm is it the mental damage coming from you being so hyper and nuts about food. As for that feeding a child or anyone no processed food for life can be a bad thing to. I am sorry you kid probably had the time of his life and even had to ask what products McDonalds sell. One Word AFRICA.

Lovesdogsandcats · 07/11/2010 01:35

Can I ask a serious question?
do some people really shudder at the thought of their kids eating food from maccy d?
Is it the whole macdonalds business that offends (in which case I might understand) or is it the actual food they object to? Because surely the odd burger never hurt anyone?

Do the objectors avoid burger/hot dog places at theme parks etc and make sure they take sandwiches? Not sure I get the complete hatred for food from these places, because surely they should be treated as what they are, which is a place to grab some food once in a blue moon rather than a diet staple?

Funny you should mention mars bars.

We were at a party yesterday where they played party games with the kids. One game was to identify several foodstuffs - blindfolded.

The kids recognised mayonnaise and sweetcorn bit not one kid at the party knew what Mars bars were.

My DC have never had a mars bar. And apparently neither had any of the other kids.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 07/11/2010 10:24

Has the Mars bar been fried though...

MmeLindt · 07/11/2010 10:25

:o

We are Scottish, but that would be a Step Too Far.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 07/11/2010 10:30

Hah, that's what you think. That bizarre smell of fried fat when you come home unexpectedly? Think about it.

MmeLindt · 07/11/2010 10:33

OMG

You think that DH has secretly been frying mars bars?

But he is German.

He might be making Berliners though

WhyIsThatThen · 07/11/2010 10:40

Not a fan of McD's, but for heaven's sake it's ONLY ONCE! Treat it as a life experience and perfect opportunity to talk over how to deal with these situations in the future. The amount of cotton wool your poor son must be cocooned in .....

Grin at AFRICA. The place I go to in Africa is more of a KFC scene.
