need to lose a stone of post-birth weight but I am just so rubbish and unmotivated - and the more I eat the more defeated I feel so I just give up altogether. I am breastfeeding so need to keep the calories up, but I am on such a downer about it that I am gaining weight, not even staying the same! How can I motivate myself?

Me too! (it's not post birth with me, it's just excess weight :( )

I had a stone of baby weight to lose and finally did it on Closerdiet.com. Not too expensive, I think it was about £30 for an 8 week plan. You can do it stinkypants! YANBU! Once you start, you feel better and it changes into an upward spiral rather than a downward one.

Congrats on breastfeeding, that is fantastic and you can still lose weight whilst bf! I am being rubbish and unmotivated at the moment too. I am tired, tired, tired and the breastfeeding does take it out of me but I did lose weight this year by eating better and cutting out bread. weight watchers is good too as gives you points for bf

Hey stinky, I feel your pain. Am supposed to be not eating treats - so, er, just walked down to the Coop and got some M&Ms Blush

You know what, though, personally I've given up on the idea of dieting for dieting's sake, because it is so fucking boring. Have you thought about maybe instead taking on a fitness challenge, like doing a 10K run or something? I find the idea that 'in 7 weeks, I will need to run 8 miles in public' or whatevs much more motivating than 'would like to be 7 lbs lighter'.

You might try (e.g.) joining a local running club. They are all over and always have a 'slow' group if you are a beginner. Social and gets you out of the house a bit :)

Although... how far post-b are you? Might not want to do sth high-impact yet?

stinkypants · 05/11/2010 21:54

that's a really good idea - i will look into 10k runs tomorrow!!! i used to jog fairly regularly back in the day! thanks (:

I'm in the same boat stinky, DD1 I lost all my baby weight very quickly whilst breastfeeding. This time with DD2 I actually put weight on! I've stopped feeding now so I have no excuse for the high calorie intake!! Blush

I turn the big 3-0 in january and I tried a dress on today and it was gorgeous...on the hanger! But it will be gorgeous on me by January!

Come on, we can do it!!! Grin

I could have written the OP. Not bothered about the "party season" as won't be going to any, but I would like to fit into something other than maternity jeans held up with a belt :(

I've got ideas of doing couch to 5k...
