Two bad experiences with them this week. One work related which I can just about live with, the second personal. Ordered a photograph book of very special photos for MIL's 60th birthday. They were old photos so DH spent weeks scanning, editing etc. as well as having clandestine meetings with his Dad to write captions etc. Submitted to publisher and paid for three weeks ago and spent an extra £30 on extra special guaranteed delivery!!

When the parcel hadn't turned up on Monday we began the chase and have been told by FedEx each day it's on their system and will be delivered tomorrow. However, they have just called and admitted they have lost the parcel...

The whole book inc. the extra postage cost £85 (went for extra special quality etc.) so we haven't bought her any other gifts. It's her birthday tomorrow...

Oh bollix. Are you sure they have done EVERYTHING, and explored every avenue to find the parcel? Its bound to be sitting somewhere. Someone must be able to try a bit harder.

Rotten.

DH has been on the phone with them all morning. He's been extremely measured and explained the situation. It's not the end of the world, of course, just such a shame. MIL deserves a special birthday gift.

oh that's shit isn't it. Will they compensate you if it doesn't turn up? Can you get another copy done if need be?

PGWomble · 05/11/2010 14:16

We've used the company who are publishing the book before, and I am hopeful that we will be compensated and a new copy sent. I am just very angry with FedEx for misleading us more than anything. Had they admitted they had no idea where the parcel was earlier in the week, we'd have given her the book for an extra special Christmas present, and found a small gift for her birthday. Hey-ho, as I say not the end of the world.

Thanks for the sympathy btw! Has certainly made me less stresses venting on here!

Aww... Hope they still turn up...

What I HATE about FedEx are the customs import duty they 'supposedly' pay on my behalf when I have (relatively cheap) items shipped from the US. I won't use FedEx any more because I was having to send them payment for amounts of money that on one occasion exceeded the value of the item they were delivering to me, and when I've used USPS or any other courier I've not been charged a thing... I have no problem with paying fair customs duty, but I'm sure they made most of those charges up!
