to expect some sort of notice *fireworks*

Just been on facebook and seen my next door neighbour is having fireworks in her back garden tonight, now they are a young couple with a very young baby themselves so not the sort to get pissed and dangerous (I hope) but I keep ferrets in my garden and have two young toddlers and a dog who hates fireworks.

AIBU to think they should have at least warned me in advance so I can make arrangements?

I am in the early stages of labour so chances are I may not even be here to settle my boys or dog when they get scared and with no notice I have nothing sorted out so I could bring the ferrets inside, I'm so pissed of and think they are being so inconsiderate!

It is bonfire and diwali season. Fire works happen all the time around this time of year.
You won't be blown up, your children will not turn into drooling wrecks and take your ferrets inside. It is not as if they are having a viking funeral pyre.
So yes YABU.

When you see Nov 5th coming up on the calendar, you can probably expect fireworks and bonfires to be everywhere.

They're not being inconsiderate and you are being unreasonable.

YABU - the warning you have received is that 5th November is fireworks/bonfire night. Same night every year for about 300 years. Get over it.

Erm, it's Bonfire night...

I think on bonfire and Diwali night I would assume there are going to be fireworks close by and act accordingly by bringing animals in and talking to the children ahead of time about them. I can understand labour throwing a spanner in the works though.

I would make sure that ANY animals were brought in tonight. As for the dog that hates fireworks, I alwys used to give mine a type of doggy valium that I got from the vet.
Before I set my little girls fireworks off tonight, I will tell my imeadiate neighbours just before hand, so that they are prewarned of the first bangs.
Maybe your neighbours were going to do the same!
So in my opinion YABU. Tho, as you are in the early stages of labour, I think you can be excused. Good luck!

Ok IBU, fair enough, just very hormonal and stressed as been in early labour over 24hrs with little sleep, sorry.
Just got to make some alternative arrangements, WIBU to ask what time they plan on having them etc so I can be prepared?
I get on ok with them, mostly, did have a few problems before their baby arrived over music so I don't want to come across as a pain in the backside.

Definitely not unreasonable to ask what time they're having them

not unreasonable to ask them at all but be ready for other neighbours potentially having some too earlier or later then next-door.
