To think that people should know by now where they'll be Christmas Day?

I really want to know the answer to this so do tell me.

I may be hosting a large family event on Boxing Day. Or not. I don't know yet because one family isn't sure where they'll be on Christmas Day and this has a knock-on effect for Boxing Day. They have yet to organise themselves, basically - the whole thing could be done in a couple of phone calls.

I suspect that IABU because I like to be super organised and have everything planned and ordered a month in advance.

But I'd be interested to know if you feel it is reasonable to have Christmas plans sorted by now.

i can hardly plan for next weekend let alone two months time.

Nope - I only know I will be at home with DH cooking dinner butI have no idea yet how many will be here - could be 10 could be 16 - don't know - don't care!!

But it's not a month in advance, nowhere near. So you tell them you need to know by the 26th November and if you don't hear from them you'll assume they're not coming and you won't cater for them.

I have no clue where we'll be either. We're still fighting discussing.

i was ready to say yabu, because i have no idea what i am doing for christmas

however, if someone had invited me to something then i would make sure to find out and let htem know, so in that sense yanbu!

i think i would say to them that you need to know by a certain time so you can make arrangements. if they don't let you know then assume they aren't coming

I don't know. It all hangs on whether my hubby gets another job after he's made redundant from Job Centre +. His last day is on 27th Nov. If he gets a job we're eating out at local village pub, if he doessn't my mum has offered to cook on Christmas Day.

Actually, I think if you are invited to something you should probably reply. It's not unreasonable to not have any plans yet of course, but only if that isn't holding up other people making their plans. It's a bit rude to keep people hanging. Can you go ahead without them?

YANBU - I like to plan ahead too.

We all have to wait for her majesty my Sister-in-law to call the shots. Only this year, I am not playing ball cos she's a frickin nutcase and we are having Christmas at home. My parents will come if and when SIL decides when she will visit them. I don't mind not knowing in this instance as I shalln't need to spend Christmas with SIL - hooray .

I know where I'll be but my mother is getting me annoyed I've asked her what she's dong for christmas and all I get is I don't know.She won't ask any one for anything if she can help it when my father was alive he just told her what she was doing.I refuse to ask her to come for christmas this year if she doesn't ask tough I've even told DH that if it's just us I'm doing pizza and chips as he's working anyway and it will be just me,DS and DD2.

I still have no idea if I will be working on Christmas day. The rota's don't come out until the beginning of December at the earliest. Am fairly sure I will be working either Christmas eve, Christmas day or Christmas night but just not which shift.

I also suffer from premature Christmas party planning syndrome, but I have no family around and most of my friends are expats who disappear to join their families in other countries during this season.

So... if I want to have people around or invite myself to other people's homes I need to arrange it before they get engaged with other commitments.

YANBU -No-one in my Dh's family could make a decision to save their life.
I do like to be organised by the 1st week of Dec.That is all bar fresh food bought ,and everything prepped /cooked that can be.
This is all because school seems to take over our lives for the next 3 weeks

I haven't got my shifts for over christmas yet.

This is the 1st year we have not decided yet and to be honest I don't want to make any plans would like to book a holiday on xams eve and be spontaneous

I think you are being very nice in realising that other people - ie me - are madly putting off thinking about it.

I really must ring my sister and start thinking about all this [shudder]
