It'll be dark enough by 5 (up here, anyway) - surely they could wait till then.

At 4 I would say early.

On the 4th I would say

Been banging away here for about the last half an hour. It's not even dark yet... or the 5th.

Mind you - on that front they've been banging away for about the last fortnight anyway.

The 4th is Mischief Night. And today the weather has been so miserable, it was dark at 4pm.

Oh, I used to do mischief night on Oct 30th.

But why fireworks when presumably you´re going to then do them again the next night?

Ban them all IMO!!! So tired of watching my poor dog cowering and trembling in a corner every time they start. Wouldn't be so bad if it was just for the weekend around Bonfire Night so we could sedate her or something, but it just goes on for weeks and weeks and it's probably not ethical to drug a dog for that long!

Bah humbug, mutter grumble, it was never like this in my day etc etc etc...
