not an AIBU but a moan because I cannot go out tonight

I phoned DH to ask if he could come home by 8pm so that I could go out for a drink with some friends.

He agreed, but said he might not be home by 8pm as he has a 6.30pm meeting. (Commute is almost an hour door to door).

He has just emailed me to say that he is going for an after-work-beer and does not know when he will be home.

I know he is going because it he was asked by two of the high up guys (the highest managers in his division) one of whom has not long moved here. So it is a work thing, and I know that he has had difficulties with one of the other colleagues so this would be an opportunity to network with the big guns and since they have never asked before, he couldn't turn it down.

But I am mildly peeved and about to open the wine and sulk.

please ensure you open a GOOD wine.

It is irritating isn't it?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 03/11/2010 18:11

Good of you to be so understanding. :) Enjoy your wine.

nameymcnamechange · 03/11/2010 18:13

Did he apologise profusely and promise to make it up to you?

If not then you need to have a little bit of a go at him when he gets home. Not as in get medieval on his ass, but do let him know that he owes you.

QuintessentialShadows · 03/11/2010 18:14

Could you get a baby sitter and go after all??

agedknees · 03/11/2010 18:22

Open the choc as well as the wine. Could you go out a bit later?

MmeLindt · 03/11/2010 18:23

No, Quint, no babysitter. The one we had has gone off to Uni in UK.

He did not apologise profusely but I am sure he will.

Looking positive, I will not miss the Dawn French webchat.

He has just phoned to grovel and apologise so all good.

upahill · 03/11/2010 19:50

If this isn't an AIBU why is it here?

Why not put in chat?

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 03/11/2010 19:52

well done for being supportive

I wish I could ever go out with friends

MmeLindt · 03/11/2010 19:52

Because I felt like it.

You are welcome to ask MNHQ to move it to chat if it bothers you.

OP posts:
QuintessentialShadows · 03/11/2010 19:53

Good that he has grovelled.

Good that you are enjoying wine.

Trinity, how are you doing?

MmeLindt · 03/11/2010 19:55

Thanks Trinity. It is the first time for months that I have planned to go out - and very last minute.

Still he said that the "meeting" went really well and he was able to get some good points across. But they have asked him to go to Spain two days longer than planned next week.

upahill · 03/11/2010 20:02

Nah, can't be arsed moving it -just seems pointless having topic headings and then more or less saying I know this isn't the right place but fuck it I'm doing what I want anyway.

Enjoy your wine. I'm ready for stiff Tia Maria and coke tonight.

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 03/11/2010 20:14

yes upahill I get that BUT surely the topic names are more for the reason of ensuring certain people see it

like if I post in chat but I may have got more help in behaviour or somsuch depending on the topic

I dont mind where people post

and I'm ok, I think

drunk again

kids are good though, house is tidy, I think I'm now a functioning drunk

woohoo NOT

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 03/11/2010 20:15

and surely she wantd views on whether she was unreasonable but gently hence the title

MmeLindt · 03/11/2010 20:20

Ah, Trin. You are doing well. Ypur house is good, your girls are well looked after. You are getting there. You have come so far.

I put it in AIBU because I knew I wasn't being unreasonable to be cross and wanted people to agree with me. Which is what everyone who posts in aibu thinks.

I had intended to write AIBU to be cross with dh but did not really want to bad mouth him cause he is a great husband.

Waffling now. .

MmeLindt · 03/11/2010 20:20

Yy, Trinity. Exactly.

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 03/11/2010 20:38

Oh, Trinity. Dawn French loves you. How cool are you.

OP posts:
QuintessentialShadows · 03/11/2010 21:18

I was gonna say "I also wanna be loved by Dawn Frenhch", but realized it would sound very weird. Hmm

You have come a long way Trinity, enjoy your glass of water. Dont berate yourself for enjoying some drink now and then, though.

I am tempted to open a lovely Quintas De Bos Ventos, or summit.... But... I have so much silly tidying up to do.

upahill · 03/11/2010 23:16

Hows the wine going? I'm on second pint large Tia Maria and coke now!!
