you have no right to be angry at the person that reported you, rather that you should be angry with yourself??
One of the mums at the school who i sort of know and used to be friends with has been done for benifit fruad totaling 37K!!
It wasnt a case of forgetting to report something but clearly was a fruad case and she pleased guilty, was in the local paper.

She now making threats on FB to get the person who reported her and they better watch out Shock and her friends are backing her!

So she's compounding a benefit fraud conviction with a very public threats against the person? Not very clever - or her mates backing her up. Incitement to violence, aiding & abetting? I'm sure someone legal will know exactly what she can be done for.

sparkle1977 · 03/11/2010 13:50

quite agree with you on that one. she is totally to blame herself.

it is very brave to report someone doing this tho, esp if you know them.

Rhinestone · 03/11/2010 13:51

She sounds like a charmer! Glad people like this are getting their comeuppance.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 03/11/2010 13:53

i didnt report her, i dont know her well enough to know anything of her money situation.
TBH Im a little peed off too as I was worried about her, she was going to a number of "appointments" in a few towns over and she was very cagey about it and thought maybe she was really unwell or something and even offered to help if she need anything (Im just nice like that!). How much of a mug am i?!

Silly woman. Threats on Facebook can be, and increasingly are, prosecuted. If they are specifically directed at the person in question then they need to print out the page and go to the police.

curlymama · 03/11/2010 13:55

Some people are really very silly.

She probably deserves a bigger punishment than she got.

I hope she gets reported for threatening behaviour too.

minibmw2010 · 03/11/2010 13:55

So what sentence did she get in the end then? Not custodial I assume? A lady I used to work with got caught for benefit fraud of about £45K and did 9 months time for it. We only found out because she'd been on long term sick leave from work and they hadn't been able to contact her to ask her to visit a work doctor, and in the end her relatives had to own up. I think she was hoping to get out and just come back saying she was "well" again .. Shock

Hedgeblunder · 03/11/2010 13:58

Your friend should report her to the police- take a screen shot of the message, print it out and give a copy to the police. Nasty bitch.
God I feel sorry for her kids

LIZS · 03/11/2010 14:01

omg that really takes the Biscuit, has she no shame Shock

Mistymoo · 03/11/2010 14:03

She doesn't live in the Highlands by any chance?

flootshoot · 03/11/2010 14:14

I used to work in a legal department and we had a benefit fraud prosecution in progress (it was deliberate fraud but not a huge amount as she was caught quickly)- woman involved threatened the witnesses.

She turned what would probably have been a fine into a prison sentence, and she had children. Some poeple really are stupid.

pottonista · 03/11/2010 14:35

I think if you're convicted of benefit fraud you should be banned from attending the House of Lords for three months.

FranSanDisco · 03/11/2010 14:38

Pottonista, yeah that'll learn 'em Confused.

GiganGORE · 03/11/2010 14:48

Have you commented on her status? I think I'd be inclined to remind the woman that this "grass" was acting within the law and has done nothing wrong. Unlike her good self.
But then I'm a bitch

sweetkitty · 03/11/2010 14:53

A few years back someone I know was done for benefit fraud as well. The first I k ew about was when she came into toddlers moaning about finding who had grasses her up. She had 3 DC was claiming as a single parent , had her DP living with her and working FT, oh and he had a council flat he was sub letting to his cousin!!

The thing is she said she couldn't afford to pay it all back, she got made to sign off her benefits and pay it back at £4 a month. She said it was well worth it as she had been claiming for 4 years.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 03/11/2010 15:44

she got a 12 month surspended sentance, ordered to pay £200 in costs, 150 community service, oh and pay back the money claimed.

LIZS · 03/11/2010 16:23

then perhaps someone should point out that being vindictive and threatening the informant will land her in prison ...

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 03/11/2010 16:41

Im sure if i pointed that out I might get my own head kicked in!

BangingNoise · 03/11/2010 16:48

Sweetkitty, that takes the piss, doesn't it? Did her partner get into trouble as well? I bloody hope so.

Benefit fraud is theft.

Glitterknickaz · 03/11/2010 16:52

Doesn't sound like the sharpest knife in the drawer does she?

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 03/11/2010 17:19

no dont think her husband did get done, well it didnt say anything about him in the paper.

OP posts:
saffy85 · 03/11/2010 17:24
