DP is due to move in for a trial run to see if we can all live together without me killing him feeling suffocated.

So ds2 is in my room, no other option as he cannot share with ds1.

I want to get DS2 either

DP thinks he is too young, I think he will be fine.

We have been looking at getting something for DS (19mo) in the future since floor-space in his room is very limited.

One of my friends has similar beds for his DS2 and DD1 whos ages I can't quite remember. The advice he gave to me was that initially we would have to look at a slopeing ladder since a young DS would not get up the straight ladder.

One of my collegues has a DS who is 3 and is in a similar type of bed with straight ladder (and a slide to get down!). Although he uses a small chair to help get up the ladder.

I think your DS will be fine.
