It's not like he's endearingly mischievous a la Dennis the Menace, Oor Wullie, Bart Simpson et al...he's just an epic knob who makes everybody's life a fucking misery.

His lank-haired, pasty faced Ma has clearly had it up to her eyeballs with him and her feeble chastisement of the little twat makes me want to break things. His Pa seriously needs to man up as well.

I want to see the episode where his little James Harries lookalike brother goes freaking postal and beats him to a shivering, bloody pulp with his own shoes whilst screaming "who's the fucking worm now huh? WHO'S THE FUCKING WORM?"

So yeah, I've banned this shite in my house...for real. That boy is rotten to the core.

Please lie to me reassure me and tell me I'm being completely reasonable.

Cheers dears.

Try teaching year 3 for 4 years running, then you'll true hatred of him.

nickytwotimes · 01/11/2010 11:30

pmsl at who's the fucking worm.

ragged · 01/11/2010 11:32

HH is ok, at least I find him understandable. Whereas Dennis the Menace (British version) is pure nasty little brat.

allhallowsandwine · 01/11/2010 11:34

YANBU i started a similar thread. but with less witt and humour, well done you in delivering it better than me.

he is a wee shite bag and i hate him. he is not yet banned in my house but close to it.

sethstarkaddersmum · 01/11/2010 11:35

yanbu. he's just nasty.
give me Just William any day.

systemsaddict · 01/11/2010 11:38

Completely agree. We're in the process of banning it (read: kids make us weaken at times - I am also a lank-haired feebly-chastising ma I fear!)

Ryoko · 01/11/2010 11:38

do you know what a douchebag is?

if you are not American don't use the term it's stupid and pointless, he is a little shit who needs a kickin tho.

SnoozyLucy · 01/11/2010 11:42

Agreed - he gets on my nerves right from the intro song, but dd loves him Hmm, probably because he does the stuff she daren't. Oor Wullie is far better though, we quite often read a couple of his strips at bedtime, and unfortunately I keep forgetting to tell dd when Horrid Henry is on Grin

anonymousbird · 01/11/2010 11:51

It's terrible, we have banned it.

jonesy71 · 01/11/2010 11:57

YANBU

he was banned after the first 5 minutes of the first episode we saw.

Also, I know this is going back a bit, but that Bella from the Tweenies is a right bitch so I banned all of them.

Plus Norman from Fireman Sam just because I can't bear his voice.

cupcakesandbunting · 01/11/2010 12:01

He's a little twat. He makes a good case for being allowed to punch kids in the face.

SoMuchToBats · 01/11/2010 12:03

YANBU. Fortunately ds has never seen the point of Horrid Henry. I am so lucky!

badcoverversion · 01/11/2010 12:06

Oh lordy, I thought I was alone in wanting to gag Norman from Fireman Sam...the boy sounds like a mangled trombone.

Ryoko...I like to embrace insults from across the pond...and yes thanks, I'm aware of the meaning.

I like Henry. Now his little brother I would never get bored of slapping.

LynetteScavo · 01/11/2010 12:11

YABtotallyU.

You have to understand Henry was truly doted on until his younger brother was born, at which point Peter recieved the adoration form their parents, rahter than Henry, causing mucy hurt to Henry.Sad

How can you have no patience for this much misunderstood little boy?

jonesy71 · 01/11/2010 12:34

Is that you, Henry?

Rollmops · 01/11/2010 14:01

Remember the other anti-HH thread...
Being absolutely devoted to literature one naturally reveres books.
However, Horrid H and Dennis... will end up in our woodburner before the resident spider can say boo.
What unforgivable waste of natural resourses, i.e trees, to have such utter idiotic drivel printed. The publisher should be sued and the author, well, if ever one would be so unfortunate as to share a postcode with her, the trusty pitchfork will come out. Angry

And breathe.....

LynetteScavo · 01/11/2010 16:24

So it was only me howling with laughter when reading "Horid Henry And The Time Machine"?

Pure genius.

muggglewump · 01/11/2010 16:26

I love Henry.
Peter, I could happily stamp on and kill.

JamieLeeCurtis · 01/11/2010 16:28

YANBU - I won't have it on here. He's not an anti-hero, he's a rude little git.

Have not read the books, but the TV prog has put me off

Lynette - your tongue-in-cheek thesis is, I'm sure, totally accurate. Just lost on the DC who watch it.

5ofus · 01/11/2010 16:32

I'm with Lynette. Poor misunderstood Henry! We banned it too mostly because we found the parents so awful.

spiderpig8 · 01/11/2010 16:37

Haven't seen the programme butall my 4 DC loved the books. The mum was quite strict as I remember??Doesn't she send him to his room all the time
