I find it really scary so they must be totally terrified! They just saw a bit of it on a music channel about an hour ago and completely freaked... how do I put them to bed now???? Explained it was all just costumes but anything else I can do????

I agree with you. I wouldn't allow my two little ones to see it. They'd be terrified for sure.
There isn't much you can do except explain it's just like all the other Halloween costumes that they and their friends wear.

Can you distract with something else? I hate horror films and if I'd been stupid enough to watch one, I'd have to watch something safe to take my mind off of it.

Try not to make a big deal of it - they'll pick up on your concern!

YANBU, if they've already seen a bit and worried about it just explain it's their job to be a dancer, it's really clever make up and they're playing a game of dress up and pretend.
