Went out for the day at a local Wildlife Park with DH and 18mo DD. It has always made me cringe when we go and see the lemurs and hear the parents saying to their children 'Look at the monkeys!' so we agreed we'd always teach DD the correct names of animals, etc.
However, I've spotted the problem with this today. She is just beginning to speak, and doesn't pick up on sounds terribly well yet...
DH: Look at the Shifaka, DD!
DD: Shit!
DH: No, Shifaka.
DD: Fucker!
Me: Look at the monkey! (Wishing the ground would open up and swallow me!)
DH: Look, it's a peacock.
DD: Cock!
Me: Oh, FGS!!!!
How much worse can it honestly get?!
(I know I'm being unreasonable, by the way, but maybe it'll raise a Saturday night smile
)
