not to know who the mumsnet heavies are?

I am quite new and keep seeing references to the mumsnet "heavies" on other threads. Am intrigued. Who are these people please?
"Heavy" because of strong opinions? Especially articulate posters? Nasty?
Or dos it refer to people officially involved with the actual running of musnet?
Please enlighten. I'd love to know who they are and why so called.

vintage - reference to quiche was tongue in cheek, but probably only funny to an oldie. It was not a typo Hmm. You need to get with the MN lingo love!

anonymosity · 30/10/2010 21:58

Its interesting what you say about 3-4 yrs ago. I was a new mum at that time, very much on my own and I got some good tips of Mnet (under a different name) in some areas, behaviour and development, parenting, so on. But I found that I did get jumped on a couple of times on really harmless threads - it took me completely by surprise and was I think, when someone just wanted to have a fight/bash someone new/ disagreed but wanted to make a BIG point about it.... Anyway, those couple of times left me feeling uncomfortable, afraid of posting anything at all, and well, a bit sad. So I didn't go near it again for a few years. I came back recently and lurked for AGES before feeling confident about posting again. But to be honest, while its a lot less heavy than it was, some of the threads leave me feeling so disheartened and depressed because either the original post is so negative or nasty, or the ensuing thread is. I think I'll be off again soon, as a result.

AnyFuleKno
Well just try and be polite. We're all adults you know. What do you want to say?
If you would like clarification on any of my points, please ask. It is a fault of mine, I admit, being abstruse.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 30/10/2010 22:04

hem hem

abstruse, yes indeed

I think you can have a big fat 4, jameelaq

4

jameelaq · 30/10/2010 22:07

4 is that like in golf? That's another thing I'll never understand. Golf. wtf balls, holes, crap clothes, blokes talking shite

jameelaq · 30/10/2010 22:10

AnyFuleKno Sat 30-Oct-10 21:22:33
please ignore jameelaq, she is a nasty piece of work and only out for attention

Naughty, naughty, naughty. I've told you before about being rude to people

vivasevilla · 30/10/2010 22:11

am assuming, jameelaq, you meant 'obtuse' in which case, you most certainly are.

BitOfFunderthepatio · 30/10/2010 22:12

I post quite a lot. But I still get things done. And I'm not very fat. And even if I were, I don't think it would invalidate everything I had to say. I am quite capable of posting bollocks whatever I weigh.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 30/10/2010 22:15

abstruse means diffcult to understand, used deliberately here methinks

anyhoo, not engaging any more

jameelaq · 30/10/2010 22:15

Uhh no, every word I use has a meaning and purpose. Abstruse means abstruse unless I'm very much mistaken. In my experience only a person of limited intelligence would assume that use of the word abstruse is a mistaken use of the word obtuse. Although I do like to be obtuse as well, when the fancy takes me. Although not in a real sense, obviously!

SixtyFootGhooool · 30/10/2010 22:18

I am one heavy fuker

BitOfFunderthepatio · 30/10/2010 22:19

Why is being hard to understand a plus point? Confused. I guess it is nevertheless possible to be abstruse and obtuse at the same time.

Doodlez · 30/10/2010 22:22

Golf - excellent game and not just about blokes talking shite. Women play and talk shite too.

I play but leave the shite talk out of it.

I am heavy. I am a Mumsnetter.

jameelaq · 30/10/2010 22:28

Very good doodlez

Ohh being hard to understand is not a plus at all. Being precise and clear for those with nous is a plus for it drives the drivellers away. PLUs attract don't they. Isn't that the basis of all social discourse.
Sorry should use jargon. People Like Us

AnyFuleKno · 30/10/2010 22:29

jameelaq, you fucking haven't

god you talk like the baddie in a bond film. You're beyond parody

thequimreaper · 30/10/2010 22:29

Surely horizontally challenged would mean skinny like vertically challenged means short. A fat person would be horizontally blessed if anything.

GroupieGirl · 30/10/2010 22:34

This is great... I, too, am relatively new, and predominantly a lurker (although I am not 'newlurker' with a different name).

I also find that I suffer from being too slow, and usually only post when I'm laughing out loud. In this case I had only just stopped laughing out loud at 'quiche' (Please can I join the distinctive quiche?) when the abstruse/obtuse Jameelaq came along.

I don't know who's side I'm on, though. Could someone tell me? [hwink]

jameelaq · 30/10/2010 22:41

You're on their side, Groupie.
Anyfule, I haven't what? You make even less sense when talking in half sentences. Bond? parodies? Come on is there some relevance to anything here? You ARE STILL BEING rude. Stop it.

Deemented · 30/10/2010 22:44

Those cake wrappers look like a cat with the bits of orange cake stuck to the brown cupcakes cases when i look at them out of the corner of my eye.

It's rather disconcerting.

Deemented · 30/10/2010 22:46

Bloody hell.

Wrong thread...

AnyFuleKno · 30/10/2010 22:46

I can't believe you're taking the moral high ground. You implied...no, you SAID that fat are unhappy, have lots of opinions, and want to make other people unhappy.

I am fat, and I do have lots of opinions, but I'm happy, and I hope others are too.

Now go chime in at the end of someone else's thread, there's a dear.

Hullygully · 30/10/2010 22:47

I know who they are

Doodlez · 30/10/2010 22:48

I wouldn't worry Deemented - nobody would notice on this thread now!

GroupieGirl · 30/10/2010 22:52

Excellent. And who are they precisely?

whips out big spoon, gives a quick stir, then runs away

GroupieGirl · 30/10/2010 22:53

Oops... that wasn't meant to be so loud.
