to hate being 'jollied' out of a bad mood

Does anyone else have a dh that does this? Drives me insane. If I am sad/grumpy/stroppy then I want to be sad/grumpy/stroppy and do not feel like being in the least bit jolly.
My dh will then get all upset that his cheering me up is not working and get in a bigger strop leaving me somehow feeling in the wrong.
Annoying.
Also, if the baby has been awake for 4 hours straight in the early morning I can deffo be grumpy with it and do not need to be told that 'This is what having a baby is about'.
AIBU? I know I'm being stroppy.

YANBU

Sometimes people are in a mood and imo are best left to it, maybe a hug or having a bath run for you or even a box of chocs or flowers is a nice thing to do but if I was jollied into being happier I think it would annoy me.

I hate this, too...but my DH has finally learned not to do it!! Yesterday I was feeling terrible, and we had a quiet word: he asked what was wrong, I told him a bit about it, he asked if I wanted to go out for a bit on my own, I said no, he took the kids outside for an hour and just let me have my strop...perfect! :) It takes time and training, but it can be done!

Very annoying. YANBU!

YABU... if he left you to stew in your juices and made no effort to cheer you up you'd be posting threads whining that you had a partner that didn't care.

Oh, I like EveWasFramed72's DH. I think he should have "DH of the Week" badge. Grin

Yanbu I hate it too - getting out of a bad mood is a process and rushing it doesn't really work. Also it is MY mood and not the responsibility of anyone else!

EveWasFramed72 · 27/10/2010 09:54

Thanks, clam ! It's taken 8 years of training!! Grin

Deeply irritating. DH is learning though - because I have got so bad, I actually say to him things like "don't you come near me, I have a knife in my hands!" There is NO WAY on God's green earth I would ever stick it in him, honestly, but it does the job of stopping him coming over and patting/stroking/hugging me, none of which I want when I'm in a fouler.

I don't mind him asking me what's wrong - but attempting to jolly/joke me out of it makes me mad as hell. He knows this but still sometimes tries it.

YANBU puts me in a worse mood.
