The Tory lead coalition are cutting jobs, services, and Welfare, they say to help reduce the Deficit.

And this the breakdown of our ring fenced aid.

Africa (Eastern & Southern) £778.8m of that £165.5m went to Ethiopia - it is 20 years since Band Aid has anything been learned?
Africa (West & Central) £458.5m of that £99.5 went to Ghana and £93.9m to the Congo
Middle East & N Africa £180.9m of that £32.8m went to Iraq -£106.8m went to the Sudan

Asia South £796.5m of that £297m went to India
Asia Central £14m
Asia East & Pacific £151.7m of that £40.2m went to China -

Caribbean £6.1m

Europe £43.3m of that Kosovo gets £17.7m

Latin America £8.66m with Brazil getting £860.000

Overseas territories £52m with Montserrat getting £16.3m and St Helena £35.7m

Kenya gets £102.7m in aid.

Ethiopia got £165.5m last year

China got £40.2m

I put it to you all that Cameron's cut backs are being driven by ideoligy, and not to save money.

////It never fails to make me laugh when people say "It's all Thatcher's fault". Have they not noticed the fact that she's been out of power for almost 20 years //////

Oh brother. It never fails to amaze me that the non thinking brigade out there cannot comprehend the fact that in 1997 New Labour embraced Thatcher's deregulated free market, and it is this that has lead to the Deficit

NOTE TO ALL. BRITAIN HASNT HAD A LABOUR GOVERNMENT SINCE THE 70'S.

TSC, I am playing Devil?s Advocate to a certain extent, but if these things were so bad why didn?t Labour take steps to correct them during their 13 years in power?
Labour made a lot of mistakes during their time in power, as will the current Government.
I don?t have particular political affinities, I vote for whoever I think will do the best job at the time and yes this time that meant voting Conservative.

The traditional Tory and Labour parties are dead. Blair/Brown was not Labour and neither is Cameron a ?Tory?, heck Thatcher wasn?t a traditional Tory, she was a Thacherite!

ivanhoe · 25/10/2010 17:22

//// heck Thatcher wasn?t a traditional Tory, she was a Thacherite!////

That's the first sensible thing you have said so far.

New Labour kept to Thatcherism because they didnt want to upset Middle England who had made good under Thatcher.

It didnt matter that Thatcher had created a mammoth rich and poor devide.

Middle England were and still are, all about "self".

And basic Greed and self interest has ruined Britain.

The whole point of the foreign aid budget is to prevent conflict in certain places like Kosovo, the Sudan, and the Congo.

Montserrat needs the money as they still afaik haven't recovered from the volcanic eruption that wiped out the fertile land on the Island.

As others have explained this also buys influence and helps contracts come the way of the UK.

ivanhoe · 25/10/2010 18:46

While the poor suffer the burden of the cuts.

Ivanhoe, so far you've told us that Blair and Brown were not the Labour party and Thatcher wasn't a Tory.

Hmm

So ?????????????

So, you don't make any sense!

HalloweeseG · 25/10/2010 20:00

You're like a child saying "it's not dark so it can't be night time".

You come onto mn and shout your opinions at us, you get nothing in the way of support and yet you keep coming back. You obviously have an agenda and it hasn't got much to do with parenting.

Are you sure that you're posting on the right forum?

MaMoTTaT · 25/10/2010 21:23

"You're like a child saying "it's not dark so it can't be night time". "

or like DS3 who as soon as it gets dark now has been shouting "is it bedtime now" - no it's effing not you are NOT going to bed at 6pm Grin

China surprised the hell out of me. Aid to India ought to be stopped too. They have a space program but can't feed or educate the general population.

scaryteacher · 25/10/2010 22:17

Actually this is what we should be worried about - too much going to the EU.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/8086113/EU-plans-for-direct-tax-would-lead-to-British-referendum

Ivanhoe, before you start on how wonderful the EU is, I live in Brussels, I know people who work/have worked there, and the waste of our money is incredible.
