to think that £16.00 is a lot to pay to visit Windsor Castle

I think £16.00 per adult & £9.50 for a child aged 5 - 16 is excessive to see part of Windsor Castle, so I'm not going, am I being unreasonable?

it's not that bad

faverghoulles · 24/10/2010 21:18

It's a bargain!
You might see the queen, or at the very least a corgi :o

MaeMobley · 24/10/2010 21:19

we just paid £18 each to visit Blenheim Palace.

I do agree that it is a lot.

MollieO · 24/10/2010 21:20

It is a lot but according to my ds (who went with the school earlier this year) it is fab. If you are local you can get in for free.

pozzled · 24/10/2010 21:23

It is a lot, but can't say if you are BU or not without knowing the circumstances.

E.g. a couple of friends want to go and thought you might like to come= NBU to decline.

Darling sister has always wanted to go and has finally arranged an outing for a few select friends for her 30th birthday= yes, YABU!

DrZeus · 24/10/2010 21:25

I think you can convert your ticket when you are there to give you a year's access to the castle, so you could go back a couple of times. I was there last week with the school, there is loads to see and the kids loved it. I think it's a fair price. Nothing is cheap these days - Legoland and Chessington are extortionate (although don't really compare to Windsor Castle! Wink)

overweightnoverdrawn · 25/10/2010 15:35

cant you go on that days out guide webb site and find a bargain

onceamai · 25/10/2010 16:42

You mean you went without being invited.Wink

lizziemun · 25/10/2010 16:44

Unfortunly it does cost alot to go out for the day now as a family.

We were grateful to have a free child tickets to get into legoland, saving us £58.00 but it still cost us £78.00 for 2 adults.

ChasingSquirrels · 25/10/2010 16:57

everywhere is expensive though isn't it.
We went to Colchester Zoo yesterday, £16.99 for an adult, £9.99 for a child.
We used Tesco vouchers and I plan where we go based on where I can use vouchers.

Gillybean2010 · 25/10/2010 17:11

Windsor Castle is worth a visit to, though, as there's alot to see when you do get in. :)

Horton · 25/10/2010 17:28

I thought Windsor CAstle was a bit crap when I went, personally. And the staff are bloody rude and unhelpful.

bendybanana · 25/10/2010 22:06

expensive

mummytime · 25/10/2010 22:18

We converted our ticket a few years ago, but unlike most places, they still make you queue for hours to get in even if you have a pre-paid ticket. So we never used the second half. I think its a rip off, and wouldn't go again. Hampton Court is much better value. If you want to see her Maj then Balmoral is probably a better bet, especially the highland games.

We live in the Royal Borough so get free entry. Not sure its worth that ticket price.

MollieO · 25/10/2010 22:34

Ds loved his visit as his teacher told him that she was a princess and the Queen was her mother. His teacher span a yarn for the entire school year that got embellished as the year progressed and ds believed every word. Grin

EggFriedRice · 25/10/2010 22:43

With a personal fortune of £290 million pounds in 2010 up £20 million on 2009 you would think that the entrance price would be a less expensive and at the very least subsidised by HRH, don't mind her ripping off the overseas tourist but for her loyal british subjects one would expect a better deal, for instance buy 1 adult ticket get one free, or free entry on last Sunday of every month. It's expensive. Hence why we don't go to places like these. In fact we only go to free places; the beach, dartmoor, the local park.

If they want to charge stupid prices, they lose out. People won't go.
