my DD is 14 and she has told me that a friend of hers one evening this week watched the film Bruno on TV with her father.

I think this is very inappropriate for a girl that age . . and with her father? Hmm creepy.

AIBU that I don't want my DD to go to this friend's house again for a sleepover or at any time when the mum isn't there?
I am not over-reacting am I?

(Bruno is 18 with lots of very grown up and distasteful sexual content)

YANBU that really is not right, but did she really watch it or does she just know thats what her dad was watching and in an attemp to show off said she watched it. it really is too disturbing for a girl of that age to watch. it made me feel uncomfertable and im not delicate at all

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 21:02

If the father didn't know what the film was about, I can see how this could happen. Depends on what she normally is allowed to watch.

monkeyfacegrace · 21/10/2010 21:03

Im open and very unfazed, but even I felt corrupted watching Bruno!

allhallowsandwine · 21/10/2010 21:09

that could be possible readywithwellies but it is a very infamous story and i think its prob only watched if you know the story or if browsing the dvd cover does give a good description of film imo. but an 18 is an 18 and i dont think 14yr olds should watch 18 films.

abitalarmed · 21/10/2010 21:23

She apparently watched it WITH her father.

Yes, perhaps it's not true, or perhaps she only watched a bit. But I think she did.

Isn't one of the first scenes quite graphic sex with someone who looks like a 12 year old boy?
If the father started to watch it not knowing what to expect, surely that would have made him turn it off?

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 22:54

Going to have to watch it now before I can decide whether this guy is odd or not. My challenge for the week!

""If the father didn't know what the film was about, I can see how this could happen. Depends on what she normally is allowed to watch.""

I have never heard of that movie but I assume that if I had got it "by mistake and the content was totally inapropriate for my Dcs I would not actually let them watch it to the end.

PuppyMonkey · 22/10/2010 08:09

It's a totally shite film so yanbu.
