To expect cereal not to smell rank

Ive just opened a new box of weetabix minis and the smell is reminiscent of a very old packet of peanuts left mouldering at the back of the cupboard. The packet is 5 months within best before dates (15th march 2011).

I cant take them back to the shop as its in another town so the cost is prohibitive . I am thinking of emailing a complaint to the company. Do I ask for the cost back or is that not possible? Its a shame to waste good money and food just now.I was just looking forward to a nice bowl with ice cold milk and now I cant have itSad

Boxed cereal, largely, is rank IMO!

Does the box not contain one of those "this packet should reach you in perfect condition, get in touch if not" blurbs? Even if not you should let them know - a company like weetabix will appreciate it & will prob send you a new box or 2 - not in time for todays snack of course. Probably been caused by poor storage somewhere down the line.
