And he's right that the security scans, even this one, are a joke.

TSA is a joke, actually. Their people are poorly trained and poorly paid.

lucky1979 · 21/10/2010 15:37

You do have the option of not going through the scanner and having a pat down search instead. The man in question declined that as well.

I think it is pretty blurry, it's hardly xray vision.

Grin

you can see his sack and all his hair.

I just know I'd be the unlucky one with my naked bod all over t'internet. Hmm

I wouldn't mind being patted down - it's the scanners I don't like the look of

He's absolutely right about the TSA. They're poorly trained (and very highly paid when compared with similar jobs with similar training in the US) and if it isn't something on their official checklist, they aren't going to pick it up.

As for pilots, why on earth are they not allowed to do the stupid fast-track security thing that first class passengers can go through? They are flying the planes, fgs, if they want to take one down it's not going to be via Macgyvering 100mL of liquid and some nail files into a bomb.

musicmadness · 21/10/2010 16:39

I must admit I don't really care. You can refuse if you want to and have a pat down search instead but it is quite blurry. Yes you can see everything but only someone interested in ghost porn is going to get anything out of it!

TBH, I get where ths pilot is coming from.

He just got to the point where he did not want to subject himself to pointless full on security every day. I have to say, the whole security situation at airports has made me avoid flying. I just think that no one has thought of passengers and aircrew at all and just dumped the whole stress and hassle and cost of it on them.

I know it is for our benefit but lets face it, the airport operators and airlines have taken full advantage of it to control passengers. One word out of place, even a complaint at the lousy treatment and they start the threats. The whole atmosphere is oppressive and no one dare say anything for fear of being jumped on.

The pilot in this case just walked away and said "I dont need this". I dont blame him.

FGS, who cares is someone gets a glance of your bits and bobs, you will be one one hundreds/thousands that day. THey aren't going to perv over you, post on you tube. Rather that than someone sneak a bomb or whatever in.
