Warburtons seeded batch bread.

On BBc news yesterday the roving reporter was out and about in a working mans house talking about the cuts and the people where complaining about losing money but in the background on the breakfast counter was a warburtons seeded loaf at about £1.70
Now if I had to tighten my belt I would be buying cheaper bread

People must realise that we have to live within our means and if that involves buying economy bread then so be it
If your income is reduced then so must your expenditure

problem solved
spend less buy cheaper

GivesHeadlessHorseman - "I once bought some (delicious, poncey) spelt bread from Asda, reduced to 10p a loaf, and froze it. Let's face it - it was reduced because most people in Asda don't understand the concept of Spelt. So their loss was my gain.

So their loss was your GRAIN!

Valpollicella · 20/10/2010 22:24

Ah yes, of course Mumcentre...aspiring to more then we should be. What with olives costing Shock about £1

Shall chuck the breadmaker out promptly tomorrow am to catch the bin men. And then I'll never buy anything other than value grey bread. Cos we is scummy benifitters, innit

Valpollicella · 20/10/2010 22:29

Givesheadless, I know I'm so sorry for spending your money

I got given some at a friend's house once, and now it's on my shopping list, alongside olives.

Wink

It's not Coke, SmellsLikeTeenSweat, it's Lambrini and also no to Dairy Milk. Monster Munch is the way forward.

MaMoTTaT · 20/10/2010 22:38

Confused
MaMoTTaT · 20/10/2010 22:41

and FYI

400g of above loaf 67p, 800g £1.44 at Asda, Sainsbury, and Tesco, Ocado don't do the 400g loaf but have the 800g at the same price.

MaimAndKilloki · 20/10/2010 22:48

Hahahaha.. oh god, you're serious? Hmm

cobbledtogether · 20/10/2010 22:49

Monster Munch?? Ridiculous!

The local shop does space raiders for 10p a pack. Only the elite can have real monster munch.

madamimadam · 20/10/2010 22:58

When will they bring in means-tested admission to Waitrose? That's what I want to know Grin

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 20/10/2010 23:02

Warburtons seeded batch bread is on offer in Tesco's at £1.20.

So YABU. And petty.

HoneyIatethekidsdragon · 20/10/2010 23:03

They already have in ours Grin the carparks being redone and they cocked up the entrance the other day if you didn't own a 4x4 you weren't getting in.

pagwatch · 20/10/2010 23:03

I try sometimes to be a kind of unofficial door person at Waitrose.
I stand at the door fondling good quality olive bread and scowling at anyone who has an argos bag or looks like they may have a child called Kortney.
it doesn't always work but one likes to do ones bit

HoneyIatethekidsdragon · 20/10/2010 23:05

Pag how long do you get away with bread fondling before they call security?

pagwatch · 20/10/2010 23:07

not long to be honest.
But I am pretty nippy for a middle aged woman in heels so I rarely actually get arrested

It's a shame we don't have welfare vouchers for food. That way, we could bring in a law that Waitrose and Sainsbury's must refuse to take them, on account of being too expensive, and then we will know that they will be spent wisely in Asda and Morrisons.

Think of all the millions that would have saved the tax payer over the years. All those benefit dependent people living it up on caperberries and breseaola, and harissa paste. No wonder the country is on its knees.

Mumcentreplus · 20/10/2010 23:16

I'm glad you are taking my concerns on board Val..me being a taxpayer master...

TheEarthIsFlat · 20/10/2010 23:18

Ooh, I love Warburtons seeded batch, keeps me regular. Cheap white bread bungs me up something chronic.

Mumcentreplus · 20/10/2010 23:18

@ pags bread fondling...one must get our kicks somewhere and its free with added exercise..Grin

larks35 · 20/10/2010 23:25

It would be DwainRooney, oh you love your contentious threads. Who are you really? BTW I prefer own brand best/luxury multi-nutty breads, and shock of horrors my partner is a "working man"!! What should we do, eat basic white bread???

tigerchilli · 20/10/2010 23:29

I bake my own, with seeds and everything!

Kewcumber · 20/10/2010 23:31

"I roll my own tampons and knit my own muesli" - surely that should be knit your own tampons here and roll your own muesli?

TitsalinaBumPumpkin · 20/10/2010 23:36

I got a huge Tiger Loaf in Tesco a few weeks ago, it was 20p as it was 'to tigery' aparently.. i say there is no such thing as 'to tigery' so was chuffed to get it so cheap....

I dont actually have a point....

hubblybubblytoilntrouble · 20/10/2010 23:36

Come the revolution, it'll be Warburtons seeded batch for all!

Start working on those banners [hgrin]

SolidButShamblingUndeadBrass · 20/10/2010 23:40

IN case anyone is worrying about the cost of bread, Sainsburys Basics Wholemeal is actually perfectly pleasant.
