(The explosion didn't leave any permanent scars though! Phew)

I witnessed a woman today stretch her chewing gum out of her mouth today so far that I was transfixed, wondering what on earth she was going to do.

All was revealed. Sad

She yanked the dummy out of the toddler'ss mouth that was accompanying her, broke a small piece of gum off, shoved it in the little girl's mouth and then the dummy back in.

I mean, how was the child going to chew and suck a dummy at the same time?

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

olderandwider · 20/10/2010 13:36

Sounds like a choking hazard. Babies' windpipes are tiny and a little ball of gum could easily block it. What a totally stupid thing to do.

PutTheKettleOn · 20/10/2010 13:37

Grin @ ruby - the thought has crossed my mind too...

LynetteScavo · 20/10/2010 13:37

Why the hell would she do that???

I'd be terrified of the toddler chocking! Shock Confused

gibbberish · 20/10/2010 13:38

Urgh that's vile. And irresponsible.

Judgey pants combusting all over the nation in agreement.

wahwahwah · 20/10/2010 13:39

Gum makes you fart. Aparently.

colditz · 20/10/2010 13:40

Toddlers all over the country manage to eat haribo without choking, and various delicious chewy sweets. Now more of a hazard to give chewing gum. utterly pointless and rather bizarre, but not particularly dangerous IMHO>

Heartsease · 20/10/2010 13:40
Shock
MaudOHara · 20/10/2010 13:42

Shock Shock Shock

TondelayooohSchwarlock · 20/10/2010 13:44

Maybe her kid's breath smells. Mine has a cold at the moment at it reeks.

changingnamesforobviousreasons · 20/10/2010 13:45

blardy hell that is outrageous!

Onetoomanycornettos · 20/10/2010 13:45

That is so dangerous (though my mother's policy of not letting us have any bubble gum through the whole of primary school because of the danger was probably a bit over the top).

DamselInDisgrace · 20/10/2010 13:47

She should have at least given the toddler her own, fresh bit. Seems a bit stingy to me,

LynetteScavo · 20/10/2010 13:59

Colditz....chewing gum and a dummy at the same time. Not quite the same as some Harribo.

DamselInDisgrace · 20/10/2010 14:00

the poor thing must have been really struggling to chew.

Grin at Pixie

I take it this is a wind up.

I am really struggling to think of any reason why someone would do this

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 20/10/2010 14:22

Nope not a wind up ManiD.

Sad but true.

MackerelOfFact · 20/10/2010 14:42

Ew. Maybe she was told the baby needed something to chew while he was teething, and took it to mean chewing gum?! Confused
