Conservatives to cut the sun from the sky tomorrow

TethHearseEnd · 19/10/2010 21:22

Taxpayers have been subsidising the sun for far too long, and it's about time somebody put a stop to all these scroungers sunbathing and absorbing light and heat FOR FREE.

Well done to them I say. Hit the lefties where it hurts, right in the solar panels.

well, don't they collect all the rain from London and then redistribute it mostly in Scotland and Wales?

Hassled · 19/10/2010 22:27

Bloody Scots nicking the rain. And bloody Welsh - what makes them think they have the monopoly on sheep? And as for the English and those cutesy thatched cottages - who's going to pay for that? Taxpayers, that's who.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 19/10/2010 22:33

I suppose they could always introduce a rain tax in Scotland to pay for sunshine elsewhere.

ScaryMoaningArrrggghhhs · 19/10/2010 22:36

You can have our sheep but you can't have our mud

Oh wait, the tourist industry got there first, privatised the bloody mud

HumphreyCobbler · 19/10/2010 22:37

daylight robbery

they should be ashamed

animula · 19/10/2010 22:44

Good post, HC.

The SE contributes way more than anywhere else. Rain and sun should be completely stopped in Wales, and all those other places. If they want sun and rain, they can get on their bicycles.

WilfShelf · 19/10/2010 22:46

ROFLMAO at this thread.

Have nothing to add as brain fried from deep and meaningful debate with philosophers, but marking place for devastating wit later...

ScaryMoaningArrrggghhhs · 19/10/2010 22:55

They won;t ahve a rain tax here, rain kept the golfers here an extra day to spend- rain has been pimping itself out to the sports industry now I tell ya Wink

Pimping is, after all, private enterprise right? Pimp My Weather

Joolyjoolyjoo · 19/10/2010 23:05

Oi, you lot- Scotland has already had its sunlight cut- must have happened in the Thatcher years: we were so busy protesting the poll tax that she sneaked the sunshine allowance right off us behind our backs- that's what they're like, these Tories. They kept all the sunshine for the South-east as usual, since that is the only area of Britain that truly matters to them. Hrrmph. This is why we need independance, so we can stake our claim to our fair share of sunlight up here. And don't go giving me photons-per-capita, population per square mile rubbish- I've been enduring these short days for too long now- its another way of oppressing us, is what it is!

Give us independance and we might swap you some of our rain for some of your sunlight. Need to do it quick before they bring in the rain tax..

TethHearseEnd · 19/10/2010 23:06

Can they cut Scotland?

OP posts:
Joolyjoolyjoo · 19/10/2010 23:17

It wouldn't surprise me!! Grin

WilfShelf · 19/10/2010 23:20

I fear the govt may just do a lot of drilling for oil along the great glen. Hoping most of it will just sail off towards Iceland. They're fucked anyway, a few more sheep won't hurt too much?

Diziet · 19/10/2010 23:22

oooooh dear!!! Smile

Rannaldini · 19/10/2010 23:23

tax the irish for their rain
all that emerald isle stuff
that's good British water that keeps the 40 shades of green green

TethHearseEnd · 19/10/2010 23:28

In fact, I think we should put the British isles out to tender.

And rename the UK 'Taxpay (plc)'.

That way, we're all Taxpayers

OP posts:
Mumcentreplus · 19/10/2010 23:30

Just tax them for being Irish...

DeadPoncy · 19/10/2010 23:52

Do you suppose I would get away with re-flooding the nation with the sunshine from my arse (a bit paradoxical to call it mooning, but Hmm)? Would that sunshine be banged up, too, or would I be counted as doing something for the Big Society?

If there were lots of us with radiant bottoms, we could be the Big Sunciety!

GoreRenewed · 20/10/2010 08:03

It's still free if you put buckets outside or stand with your mouth open facing the sky.

God ! Some people want everything done for them Hmm

ScaryMoaningArrrggghhhs · 20/10/2010 09:08

Is that a taxpayers bucket I wonder?

TethHearseEnd · 20/10/2010 09:48

"It's still free if you put buckets outside or stand with your mouth open facing the sky."

Typical- such a sense of entitlement. Hopefully the overlords coalition will cut buckets to stop these freeloading scroungers taking taxpayers' rain.

OP posts:
TethHearseEnd · 20/10/2010 09:50

And, if they've any sense, they'll cut mouths too.

Perhaps just for those earning under £25,000.

That'll shut 'em up.

OP posts:
Shodan · 20/10/2010 10:01

As members of the European Union I feel we should be campaigning for Greater Sun Entitlement, as has been done in the likes of Spain and Portugal.

We are seriously under-sunned here. That's what we should be doing something about.

TethHearseEnd · 20/10/2010 10:09

Sounds a bit socialist to me, Shodan... Campaign? European Union?!

OP posts:
DomesticGoddessInTraining · 20/10/2010 19:53

Don't worry TethHearseEnd, those pesky MEP's have been voting in favour of making it compulsory in the EU to give mothers full pay on maternity leave for 6 months (or something) so they'll be cutting the links with Europe soon enough.

Mumcentreplus · 20/10/2010 20:01

getting PAID whilst on mat leave?..Shock
