To take my baby DD's cuddly away from her?

She has raided the laundry basket, removed one of my DH's smelly socks and is cuddling it and singing happily to it (Urrrggghhhh!).

If it gets her off to sleep then i should leave her to it. You can always remove it late this eve...

Tanith · 19/10/2010 19:44

I'm afraid it might knock her out...!

PMSL when I read the thread title I thought, how horrid, poor child - but gosh YANBU funny things toddlers Smile

My DD did this once with one of my maternity bras. Wasn't dirty but hadn't been washed before sho got her chubby little hands on it.She gave it up in a day or 2.

Have you tried distraction technique? Btw get a photo of her with the sock if you haven't already Grin

saffy85 · 19/10/2010 19:57

By distraction I mean bribery ofcourse. Grin

DD once got very attached to a le creuset saucepan. I had to be cruel to be kind in the end.

Children are odd.

bruffin · 19/10/2010 19:58

I found DD with one of her brothers socks one night. She used to take my nightie to bed everynight until she was 10 or 11. It had to be unwashed and to feel nice.

discobeaver · 19/10/2010 20:02

My eldest daughter once decided to use the loo brush as a back scrubber, she was about two.

discobeaver · 19/10/2010 20:03

Lol at the saucepan as well! At least it was a decent make.

Tanith · 19/10/2010 21:40

I eventually managed to extract it: she had it tucked under her chin and was partly lying on it.

It is soggy. I think she's been chewing it (yuck! yuck! yuck!)

DH is so pleased. He thinks it shows her love for him Biscuit

My younger DD has one of my old bras for a cuddle. She's 7. I think I'm a bad parent. It is a clean one, though.

blackwell · 19/10/2010 21:59

Aww. It probably smells of him! I used to go around wearing my father's jumpers until I was in my early twenties because it smelt of him [electra complex emoticon]

LionsAreScary · 19/10/2010 22:03

Blackwell, I used to love wearing my Dad's jumpers, too. I still love the smell of woodsmoke because it reminds me of him making bonfires in the garden.

I'd draw the line at chewing one of his dirty socks though.

my dd had a monkey bought by her uncle and it was not known to be special but she had tonsilitus and chicken pocks and then just over night she became inseperable from it, but weed on it and it had to be washed.

months later she slept at my sisters house who had no knowledge that this had become a special monkey and we left it there, my 8 yr old nephew snuck it in the bin because dd had told him she weed on it, she was heart broken and took her ages to get over this. the sock going is NUR. it is so lovely tho that she did this.
