A couple of nights ago, I was sat doing my thing at night at about 9pm. It was dark outside so I had the curtains closed and all of a sudden a green laser was being shone through my window. It was really bright and shook me up for a small minute. It's not the first time this has happened, neither Hmm

did you look out?

MummikinsOopNorth · 19/10/2010 16:46

Yes, but I couldn't see anyone but we live opposite a hill with an estate on, so I thought someone may be shining it from their home but would the beam really reach that far across?

I would call the police. My brother had this done to him while he was driving a school bus. he ended up in A&E, school headmaster was not bothered until my brothers firm brought the police in. The police were very interested as lasers can damage your eyes. He was ok luckily, got an apology. I know he was driving so the implications were more serious in a way but even so.....Angry

What's 'your thing'?
What's a 'noob'?

How did the laser go thru the curtain? Genuine question as my laser pen will go far but not thru a curtain AFAIK - i wasn't me lol mine is red Wink

"Yes, but I couldn't see anyone but we live opposite a hill with an estate on, so I thought someone may be shining it from their home but would the beam really reach that far across?"

Yes it would. I had to confiscate one of these from DS once (he got it in a party bag Angry )for doing the same thing to a house on the hill opposite us. The guy somehow managed to track it back to our house and called round to complain.

You're not being unreasonable at all, but good luck finding where it's coming from if there's a whole estate. It might be easier when people start letting off fireworks - the laser will show up against the smoke.

I wish they'd stop selling these to kids, they're really dangerous.

FindingMymOOOOOOOOjo · 19/10/2010 17:27

It will probabaly just be a kid but it's silly behaviour & no doubt frightening for you.

TrillianSlasher · 19/10/2010 17:30

I don't think that's what noob means.

Do you mean nob? Twat? Idiot? Antisocial person?

hugglymugly · 19/10/2010 18:27

A laser pen that shines as far as the other end of a classroom or meeting room is ok. A laser that's bright enough to go much further and then through curtains is likely to be the kind of laser that's aimed at aircraft, e.g.:

If you make a report to the local police, at least they'll know they've got one of those scrotes on their patch, and maybe where to start looking if there's a laser-related accident in the neighbourhood.

I love the word noob.

PlentyOfPockets · 19/10/2010 19:20

@TrillianSlasher: kidz r n00b people!

@ hugglymugly: I think lasers are lasers. The sort they sell in the £ shop will shine right across the valley.
