Colleagues & lunches

Where we work the canteen isn't big enough for us all to fit in during lunch time, so there are several mini kitchens near our desks with microwaves etc for us to heat food.
One colleague in particular brings in curries & Indian food for her lunch.
AIBU to think that she should really bring in enough for everyone because IT SMELLS BLOODY GORGEOUS and puts my Ryvita & soggy cucumber to shame Grin

I'm seriously thinking about suggesting a charity 'World Food Day' where my team can all choose a dish/country close to our heritage or hearts and bring it into work for everyone to try (eg pay £2 or something to try a portion of a particular dish and we could donate the money to UNICEF or similar charity.

I see. You are manipulating your colleagues hearts in order to make sure you get a decent curry.

Waht a farming fantastic idea!

I worked somewhere we had world food day as a social event about once every 6 months. It was so so great. I was working with a load of carribean and asian people having just arrvied from australia. it was so great. Everytone just brough soemthign in and there were huge pots of curries and things like salt fish just such a great mixture of all this lovely home made food.
I think she would be really pleased if someone said you food smeels so good i want to have a whole day for it!

Brilliant Idea!

We've got a fairly good mix of people here too - Indian, Australian, Caribbean, African, German, Chinese, Japanese heritages. If I say it can be a dish from a country/culture you enjoy as well as saying the country/culture you're from it'd give people loads of scope.

I'll have a think about how I can pitch this to the PTB (powers that be) as an idea for our Christmas Event for the whole office.

Thanks ladies!
