To find people who give their daughters the nickname "Moo" annoying?

I know it's only a small thing but it's so irritating; whatever happened to a bit of originality? I know about 5 people that call their DD's "Moo" as a nickname.

Some of our close friends have a DD called Molly, and they call her Molly-Moo constantly. We have had to endure the tale again and again about how up until the age of 5 "Molly-Moo" thought her real middle name was Moo. Oh the hilarity of it!

I post on another forum and there is a woman on there who's DD also has a name beginning with M, and she calls her Moo, too. Every post is about "Moo" and "Moo did this" rather than her proper name.

There are also some other mums at the school that call their DD's this. What makes me laugh is they all think they're being so clever and original, when they're not. Find a more original nickname!

woolymindy · 18/10/2010 16:09

DD1 is larly-loo or lulu
DD2 is Mrs Macdougal or The Moo
DS1 is looly - boo
DS2 is coco

They are also collectively known as the ladies and gentlemen, the eggs and the buddahs

I think the OP is a mean spirited moany old moo. Cheer up love.

woolymindy · 18/10/2010 16:10

In my day of course, fanny was the nickname of choice

or was that just my Mummy???

JinnyS · 18/10/2010 16:13
Shock

I never expected to be judged on my choice of nickname

wotnochocs · 18/10/2010 16:15

My 5 yo thinks her middle name is Twinkletoes (but it isn't reallY!!)

MiasmARGGHHH · 18/10/2010 16:21

I call my dd fanny or fanny-ann, sticks or stickely wickets (?)

I call my ds Boo. I think it origionally came about from
Boob.

Several of my friends have a Boo

LynLiesNomoreZombieFest · 18/10/2010 16:39

Wurly Charlotte prounounced by DD2 as Wurlet and then Wurly.

Spud as in Bob the builder, skinny legs.

Boots as in beautiful

Galena · 18/10/2010 16:44

There's the 'Bo' nickname for boys too - Brody-Bo, Finn-Bo, and my all time favourite, Harry-Bo (Makes me think chewy sweets every time!)

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/10/2010 16:49

Grin at the OP 'oh the hilarity of it'

I too hate girly whirly whoopsy do nicknames. And how we are all supposed to smile indulgently at Lucy Loo etc etc.

My daughter is called Sophia; my aunt decided to call her Fifi from a young age until i murdered her.

That said, dd's nickname is John. God knows why but we all call her it.

snorkie · 18/10/2010 16:49

dd called herself moo for a few years. It caused us great confusion initially when some people we met camping started asking us about moo & we didn't know who they were talking about.

I think there are far worse nick names to be honest.

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 18/10/2010 16:58

What on earth did Pag and Greeny say that needed to be deleted?

I have post deletion envy.

Never heard anyone calling their DD "Moo". But if I did, it wouldn't bother me.

DD gets called Cat or Kitty-Cat

DS -boy

HeadlessPrinceBilly · 18/10/2010 17:07

My ma called me Fanny-Annie-Fanackerpan, in the early 80's, whatever the fuck that meant! And Skinny-Malinky-Long-Legs.

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/10/2010 17:09

Yes, what did you two say.

What on EARTH could have been so offensive on a moo name thread?

choccyfiend78 · 18/10/2010 17:14

My mum calls our DS Riley-moo but that is because she is greek and moo means mine/ my in greek so she is really calling him my riley.

HeadlessPrinceBilly · 18/10/2010 17:14

Somebody called someone else a tosser. i think.

pagwatch · 18/10/2010 18:05

I am enjoying my new potty mouth viper status.

I used a phrase remarkably similar to 'oh do duck off' which apparently is deletion worthy

BlackBag · 18/10/2010 19:50

YANBU, It really, really annoys me, I inwardly seeth when after nodding and smiling through a long discussion of how rude/ungratefull/gifted and talented/artistic/sociable/overconfident her children are, whilst they are in earshot, she then turns to them with a voice full of saccahrine and requests that little 'Bean' and 'Marni-Moo' cease whinging/playing/crying IMMEDIATELY, waits two heart beats then shouts and reminds them of all she does for them.

Bina and Marni - African princess names my arse, say them like as they will at senior school like your on the football terrace.

HalloweeseG · 18/10/2010 19:55

In Cyprus "muu" is added at the end of peoples name as a sign of affection.

I think its really sweet.

bamboobutton · 18/10/2010 20:13

dd is known as

missy
missy-moo
missy-moo-poo
miss poo
ezza-mezza(her names esme)
ezza-mezza-poo-pops
ezza-poo
ezza-moo

i couldn't care less if someone was secretly judging my names although i will, maybe, stop the poo names when she is a bit older.

Merryseveredlegs · 18/10/2010 20:36

DH's nickname for DD is Mrs McCluskey.

Despite the fact that she bears no resemblance to the diminutive blonde, firm but fair headmistress of Grange Hill (1981-1991), it rather suits her.

dementedma · 18/10/2010 20:58

niece was named Beatrice, which became Betty-Boop and then Boopy. she outgrew this in time. when she turned 18 a month or two ago i posted "Happy Birthday Boopy" on her Facebook and all her uber-cool teen dude friends saw it. Bad auntie!!!

RandomMusings · 18/10/2010 20:58
