We went out last night for a friends leaving party and as I am possibly PG (2 weeks late 4 NBF, Doctor says all symptoms look towards pregnancy and wants me to do more tests) I was only drinking water.

One of DH friends asked me why I wasn't drinking and I said to him there is a possibility I might be pregnant.

His reaction really shocked me, annoyed me, and upset me!

Here are a few of his quotes of the night:

"I will punch you in the stomach for a cheapie abortion"

"Who is the father?"

"You missed a whole month of pills to trick DH into having a baby"

I would have expected things like that from some of DH's other friends but not this one as he has always been really nice and we get on really well (or used to). But after he said all this stuff I was so upset and fuming, I could have punched him right there and then! I was emotional all day but really had to struggle holding back the tears after his outburst!

Safe to say I will being staying very quiet if/when I get a BFP as I dont want a reaction like that again!

OMG what an idiot! How old is he? he sounds like he is 14. What did your DH say?
I'm hoping he was drunk and didn't realise what a dick he was being.
Call him on it next time you see him!

so sorry that you got such an insensitive response to your great news.

i think you are right, just keep the news quiet until you are feeling abit more settled about it. 6 weeks is still early and you are bound to be sensitive right now (i know i was). what did your DH say to him?

BaggyCoconut · 16/10/2010 11:52

"I will punch you in the stomach for a cheapie abortion"

How about you offer to cut his balls off for a cheap vasectomy?

booooooooooyhoo · 16/10/2010 11:53

baggy that is a great response!! Grin

whiteyshun · 16/10/2010 11:54

DH didn't say anything to him, the friend was drunk, but still I don't think justifies saying it. Sadly this lad is 25 so you would think he would be a bit more mature!

DH was fuming when I told him though, and he is really shocked about what he said too.

If I say him again I might not even bother speaking to him as now in my eyes he isn't worth speaking to after some of the stuff he said.

i agree, i couldn't bring myself to be pleasant to him afetr that. what an arsehole.

whiteyshun · 16/10/2010 11:56

lol! Love your response BagggyCoconut! If only I had your wisdom last night! love it!!

If someone said that to me I wouldn't bother with humour...I would say "And I'll have you in court for issuing violent threats you wanker"

aleene · 16/10/2010 11:57

Yes, ignore him and keep dignified about it. Is it your first baby? perhaps the 'friend' is jealous that you are becoming a family unit and your DH will have, in theory, less time for friends and nights out?

whiteyshun · 16/10/2010 12:01

Yeah it will be our first.

They cant really say that as me and DH are moving from England to Australia! (DH in a few weeks, me when my visa comes through!)

"I would have expected things like that from some of DH's other friends" - you shouldn't have to expect that from anyone. Sounds like your DH needs to get some new friends Shock

BaggyCoconut · 16/10/2010 12:37

Whiteyshun - I can never think of witty responses at the right time though!

On a serious note if your DH friend is worried about how his friendship with your DH will be affected by your DH have different priorities, ie you and baby, then he will have to adjust, or the friendship will probably drift anyway. I think he will either stop with the comments or you wont have to see him anyway, either way works in your favour.
