Don't be daft. You will just end up a fat smoker.

No they don't! It's will power AuntiePB! Be strong and don't start again. I would give anything not to have smoked for 5 years!

Get yourself off to Slimming World (or similar), meet some new friends there and lose weight that way.

It's all in the mind, the putting on weight whilst giving up smoking, honest it is. And also dieting, all in the mind, if you WANT to lose weight you will. You have to be in the right frame of mind.

And, think of how much you have saved whilst not smoking!!! Ciggies are £6.25 a packet now on average!

And, think of your health, 5 more years and you will have the lungs of a non-smoker so definitely cutting your chance of dying of lung disease!

Please think again.

£6.25 (nearly chocked that £2 a pack more)

No, don't.
Get a new nibble instead to deal with the hands fiddling aspect and the oral-fixation side. Oranges or satsumas are good as you have to peel them and segment them AND they have practically no calories and are full of vitamins.

Your insides are more important than your outsides. Don't stress about your weight - obviously I don't know you but most people who worry about their weight have NOTHING to worry about.

Anyway, IME, cigs don't replace food after you've been off them for a while; they add to it. No benefit.

Don't go there!

In a moment of stupid weakness six weeks ago I went back after 4 years.

Always missed it but had the pregnant/ breastfeeding excuse.

Trouble is I'm enjoying it again, then hating myself for being stupid and weak.

And no it's not replacing my food as it used to either! I'm only having 2-5 a day compared to 20-30 before so i guess that's something.

And dh hates me for it. we gave up together and he's not succumbed so is all superior - that's the worst bit!

No the worst bit is creeping about and hiding and always needing sweets or chewing gum and a ton of body spray.

Don't go there!

DONT'T DO IT!!!!

I started to smoke again after having DC and have struggled for 10 years to give up again.

I'm so envious of several of my DF who smoke socially (when they've had a glass of wine or two) and can stop there, but have lapsed and have set a date for stopping again in a couple of weeks.

again ... DON'T DO IT

MrsRhettKilledTheButler · 15/10/2010 00:49

i did it to lose weight and i honestly am a fat smoker :( it doesn't always work.... it used to but not any more for me sadly

and just think about all the hassle you'll have to go through when you decide you want to quit again! save yourself the trouble Grin

musicmadness · 15/10/2010 01:33

Don't be daft. I'm not one to preach as I do smoke a bit (as in only when I'm drunk) but wanting to lose weight is a really crap reason to start smoking again. Not that there are any good ones really.

tillyma · 15/10/2010 06:25

I'll join the chorus of those saying please don't do it. I've always found www.whyquit.com to be very useful when smoking seems like an attractive option.

Smoking isn't the answer to being overweight. If you find the right substitute for smoking it can help you to lose weight too. I started running a few months ago (it's free and I can do it when the LO is in bed) and not only am I now thinner than I was when I smoked, it gives me a good reason not to start again because I wouldn't be able to do it for wheezing.

Scuttlebutter · 15/10/2010 10:37

Please, please don't start again. Even if it makes you skinny as a rake, you will smell VILE, no matter how much body spray you squirt, it will ruin your teeth and your skin, your fingers will go a most unattractive shade of yellow and take it from someone who's been there, cancer surgery does nothing for how you will look in a bikini.

I don't think I could ever go back to the fags just on the basis of the smell - I hate it now when someone leans across me or stands close to me in a shop and you get that horrible, stale fug of smoke from them - it's revolting.

Also, please remember what your DC are seeing - at them moment they have a lovely healthy non smoking mum. Do you really want to be modelling an unhealthy, addictive behaviour that could also be damaging their health too?
