To wonder why there is a ''divorced'' relationship status option on Match.com

Surely if you are divorced you are now single.
It's almost as though being divorced is a label. Look at you with the failed marriage it seems to imply.

I think it's just letting people you have been married... not sure why - maybe so you can weed out the still single 40 year old men?

It's a kind of legal status isn't it? On gov forms I think you have to put divorced if it applies.
For Match purposes, I would think previously divorced people might have similar issues etc - though having children more significant probably than having been married.
I wouldn't think anyone on Match is going to be judgey about past relationships, everyone there is still looking for Mr/Ms Right.

It's reasonable. 'Divorced' can mean a lot of things ranging from very happily single to having some bitter ex partner in the background making life miserable. Some (myself included) have gone out with people in the latter category, found it very tough going and would appreciate having as full a picture as possible.

Perhaps they could offer two options:

1. Divorced with issues
2. Happily divorced

That's how many of my divorced friends seem to feel!!

That would surely be included in "happily divorced", methinks :P
