Sainsbury's Folic Acid labelling

Now I really don't know if I'm being over sensitive, so please let me know what you think.

DH and I are starting to think about TTC DC3, so I thought I would get some Folic Acid, which fortuotously was on 3 for 2 this week. However the label says Mum3be! in big letters on the tub link. Now given that I don't really want to advertise the fact that I'm TTC and that many (most even?) women don't tell anyone they are pregnant in the first three months (when it is recommended that Folic Acid is taken) am I being unreasonable to think the label is inappropriate?

YABU - can't think of any other reason a person would be taking folic acid (cue loads of people posting to give me examples). Just keep the pots out of sight and no-one'll be any the wiser.

MumNWLondon · 13/10/2010 11:37

YABU, I kept mine in my bedroom and took it when I woke up.

Plumm · 13/10/2010 11:41

Who's going to see the tub?

JenaiMwahHaHaHaaaaah · 13/10/2010 11:43

YABU. And I'm sure you can but the stuff online if you're worried about bumping into the neighbours in Sainsburys.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/10/2010 11:43

YABU. If you feel that strongly about it, buy it from somewhere else. Alternatively, decant the bottles from Sainsbos into a large valium bottle to shock your visitors.

WowOoo · 13/10/2010 11:45

The label is totally appropriate for what it is.

Don't buy in a public place if it bothers you. Go out of town or online?!

GrownupsLikeQuiet · 13/10/2010 11:47

sorry, I'm not bothered about buying it - I'm bothered about forgetting and leaving it out in the bathroom so outlaws/friends etc see it.

especially sil/bil who cannot have children and are trying to adopt at the moment - I'd rather discuss it with them when it is fait a compli IYSWIM

YABU and a bit weird.

sapphireblwhooooo · 13/10/2010 11:49

buy an aspirin bottle and decant your folic acid into it.

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 13/10/2010 11:49

Put tub in your knicker drawer.

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 13/10/2010 11:50

loving decanting folic acid

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 13/10/2010 11:51

Put it in a cupboard.

If the silly labelling gets lots of excited women to buy and take the stuff then it's a good thing.

It's up to you to hide it. I decant mine into an empty aspirin bottle. Tell dh if you do this though...

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 13/10/2010 11:51

Do people really decant their folic acid?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/10/2010 11:52

You take my advice then. If Valium isn't shocking enough, do a homemade heroin/cocaine label.
Lighten up.
I took FA for years and never managed to get a foetus beyond 22 weeks. Once we left the UK, following failed fertility treatment, I never took another one. Imagine my shock to find myself pregnant in a country that didn't sell it.
If you forget it for a day or two it won't actually matter I don't think.
I actaully went to Dubai to buy FABlush

AMumInScotland · 13/10/2010 11:52

YABU - its a sensible way for the shop to label that product. If you don't want people to see it, don't leave it out. I do that with tampons - the box makes it clear what they are, but I don't put them on the bathroom windowsill, as I prefer not to "advertise" my cycle to firends and family. Easy enough to put it somewhere else.

GrownupsLikeQuiet · 13/10/2010 11:52

Gibbon why is it weird - I just asked the question. There is no need to get personal about it

OP posts:
Bue · 13/10/2010 11:54

But young(ish) women who are taking folic acid are obviously TTC or pregnant, so it's not like you'd be fooling anyone if the bottle just said 'Folic Acid'. Just leave it somewhere private.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 13/10/2010 11:54

I decant it because my mother goes through my medicine cabinet and Asks Questions.

I don't keep it in my bedroom as the folic acid tub is not child proof (certainly not dd proof).

zisforzebra · 13/10/2010 11:56

YABU. Just hide it in your sock drawer/kitchen cupboard/medicine chest etc.

Mejon My son takes it for a blood disorder. Sorry...didn't want to disappoint you! Grin

GibbonWithAnAppleBobbingBibOn · 13/10/2010 11:57

Hardly personal Hmm

It is weird to overthink the issue so much imo

Note the imo.

imo, it's weird.

But not as weird as decanting the FA into an inconspicuous container Wink

GrownupsLikeQuiet · 13/10/2010 11:57

Show Exactly - my dd could get into it. Also I'm pretty sure my MIL/BIL etc wouldn't have a clue what folic acid is for - they would just think it is some kind of vitamin supplement.

I don't think decanting it is a good idea.
